Ryse: Son of Rome [XO]

The latter part sounds like it was done for E3 demo purposes, not that you'll automagically win in the final. I mean, what would be the point of showing button prompts then? :p

Right?

.............right?

I wonder if the General after some time becomes a slave and has to fight at the Colosseum against gladiators , chariots , elephants , tigers ...
They HAVE to put something like that in the game .

Well the Colosseum was featured in the announcement trailer.

I thought I had read or maybe heard in an interview that the MP entailed co-op gameplay where two ppl (maybe more?) fight off waves of enemies in the Colosseum or something. Might be wrong though.

Basing on gladiators leaves a lot of room for design. Gladiator battles could be quite varied encounters.

If they can recreate with some success the Colosseum battles from Gladiator, I wouldn't care if all combat is QTE only.

I love that movie and love the spartacus series. I think Chivalry: Medieval Warfare handles it well in first person view in the videos i saw. Hope crytek can ace it in 3rd person. And bring some competitve play evade hits by rolling and stuff just ace the Gladiator and Spartacus feel. Have special events like they would have in ancient rome.

Crytek should hire me as gameplay programmer .

I'm personally a bit excited and hopeful about this one, and I don't even like Crytek's games. There's clearly more to the game than the original E3 demo lets on. Those prompts are definitely not QTE, which is a plus (although I don't have anything against QTE necessarily, just don't want to see them abused), the combat seems to work like the Batman titles, it looks incredible, and it seems like it could be pretty fun.

Does Roman mythos allow stuff like magic and cool creatures to exist?
From what i have seen in movies it don't really use mythical creatures.

Yes, in a similar way to Greek mythology. Which shouldn't be terribly surprising considering much of Greek mythology was incorporated straight into Roman mythology with just some name changes for the gods.

Aah okay. Sound logical but did they drop the year the game is taking place given how later Rome was christian at least that is what i heard.

And some new Ryse info?
Through online multiplayer,
Ryse plunges you into the brutal world of the gladiator.
Enter the Coliseum to fight side-by-side with your friends in dynamic environments,
to the roar of ten-thousand spectators.*

Shame no pvp info had hoped something like Wow Arena.

According to the producers, Titus' eyeball includes more technology than an entire character in an Xbox 360 game.

I was one of those who could tell the difference in graphics quality after watching the E3 video of the game, but that sounds like too much. The gameplay is what I am interested in the most right now though. It can be either very fun or really disappointing. We shall see.

So halfway through it turns into Clash of the Titans?

Crytek have history for this, the original Far Cry started out as a straight up military shooter then the mutant monkeys appeared. Personally I loved it but I recall a moderate backlash from the community who expected a more conventional FPS.

From what I've seen of the game play, this thing is going to be a poop stain the likes of which we rarely see.

From what I've seen and read, I'm not so sure about that. You see some clear potential for this to be Batman Arkham Asylum style combat, only with a Roman/Spartacus twist. Will the game perhaps be a bit on the simplistic side? Yes, it runs that risk and may very well surpass it, but that doesn't mean it can't be a solid launch title that people can have some real fun with. What's often lost on us these days is that we don't need every game to be in the running for the gaming equivalent of an Oscar. We all need our guilty pleasures every now and then, and I'd be dishonest if I didn't say I was interested in seeing the various battlefields in which I'll be fighting, and the many stylish ways that I'll be brutally killing the game's enemies.

I will dedicate the incoming slaughter to the bringer of rain :p
