Rumor : PS3 Hacked ?..

how are they doing that with the psp ?

It seems like each time a new firmware is out a new hacked one is out. 3.90 is hacked already , i think it took them less than a week to hack that
The difference is that the PS3 will only run encrypted&signed bootcode, which means even if you find a way to replace the firmware, you still need to figure out encryption keys to run your own code. Downgrading might work that way( ie using unaltered signed code from Sony), but forget custom firmwares.

On the PSP, if you once got access you can run anything.

What is bad is security through obscurity.
I for one am curious about the security hole in previous PS1 emulator.
Is it not a regular application like games?
If so what kind of access rights do games have?

And as a consumer, should I be worried about installing UT3 mods?

So, yes, I always welcome accurate information regarding PS3 hacking (even for piracy).

If it's for the use of piracy, then I think it's bad. I'm like you I appreciate hacking for getting extra functionality out of devices, but for purely illegal intentions I have no respect for it. I also understand that people do things, just to prove it can be done (like hackers back in the 80s), but then why would someone put it out on the internet for anyone to come and use?
