Rift, Vive, and Virtual Reality

True, but the new VR devices are creating some myths of their own, I feel. ;) also, now that I think about it, it should be a THX like intro to VR movies or something, as with VR if a train comes right at you, you might actually react like that, haha.

I always thought an intro like the old IMAX films had would be both appropriate and cool for the "Rift" brand in VR.

I recently saw an episode of shark tank from 2013 Virtuix Omni was pitched to the sharks
all of them said no
http://www.virtuix.com

ps: season 5 episode 11 if anyone wants to watch it

yea I saw that one awhile ago. They were right to pass. The rift was no where ready and the Omni was very expensive. It might have been different if they went on this season or next season.

OK, according to Wikipedia, the "sharks" in Shark Tank are investors, not actual sharks. That makes a lot more sense.

What amazes me is the astonishing amount of conjectures seen in this thread based on no actual experience at all.

lol its a popular show

At first I thought someone had somehow retrofitted something to an HMD + Omni setup so that it would fit a shark's head and body, and that they had subjected them to some sort of VR experience for some reason, and that the sharks had a bad reaction to it. I thought that was at once a very strange and cool idea. But I figured I was probably off base, so I googled the show.

I have to say that I find my version of it much more entertaining.

What you don't like Mr Wonderful offering a royality deal to everyone ? Shark tank is actually a remake of a Japanese or Chinese show called Dragon's den.

Oculus just announced Minecraft VR , they also announced sub 1k vr machines. Gear VR for the S6 / Edge / Edge + / Note 5 $100
More to come

Thanks for picking up the slack for me . Worked the giants game so couldn't post

Anyway this could be a smart way to keep costs down.

I figure
$300 gets you the Visor , one sensor and an xbox one controller.

$200 gets you the touch and a second sensor . Cost is spread out a bit and they can release the visor sooner to get greater adoption.

I'm hoping the touch controllers will stay the same for 2 or 3 visors at least. I'm thinking I will jump in with unit 1 and then again with 3 or 4 depending on how often they come out and how I can hide it from my gf lol

After massive losses HTC announces they wont be giving guidance.

http://www.engadget.com/2015/10/30/htc-q3-2015/

The firm has posted a $138.6 million loss for the last three months, which is better than the $265 million it ate in the previous quarter, but still a loss. That may not, however, be the most troubling issue for the firm since, during its investors call, it announced that it would no longer publish guidance on its future performance.

I wonder how if this will affect the vive at all.

Thought the making of the hardware video Oculus post was interesting (although like most of these presentations I rather read about it and save 50 mind).

Lots of hard work gone into the ergonomics. Hope the Vive team are doing as much. The dev version is pretty lacking on that front.

The vsre app has had an update with three new videos, among which two music videos, Muse and U2. I'm downloading the Muse one right now.

1000 EUR??? I should certainly hope it's well under that. I don't see many people going for it if it's more than half that price. I hope that's not an omen of Oculus pricing.
