Resident Evil 4 and Killer 7 video (Famitsu Wave DVD)

Amazing! RE4 and Killer7 are shaping up nicely and Panic Maker seems to be hilarious. I am impressed with Capcom (lately), let's hope they keep up the good work!

Agreed. Both RE4 and Killer7 look awesome. Let's hope the actual games are as enjoyable as their graphics seem to be...

It appears my old topic, "Why RE4 may have the GC's best lighting," is coming true. Though not for the reasons I had previously thought. The texturing, flames, & water are some of the best I have ever seen. I cannot wait.

What is also exciting is that you seem to be able to do much more than just shooting, you can kick, use diiferent weapons in different way....variety of enemies.....I hope SH4 can match it. But that water does not look better than Ico or MGS2...

Well I haven't posted yet in this thread because I always get disconnected during the download. I'm using dialup without download managers.

There must be some strong GC hate around here.
If you are referring to the lack of hundreds of replies, then that's some bizarre logic... Since when is the lack of interest equal to hate?

..I hope SH4 can match it.
As far as gameplay goes, I've heard (from a guy who previewed it) SH4 is pretty much the same as the previous game. So, don't expect such more open ended gameplay as in RE4. I don't mind it, though, as long as SH4 stays true to it's creepy atmosphere, sick looking formula. As for the visuals, you can always expect SH4 to deliver it's massive shadows and crazy texure and framebuffer effects, but I doubt you'll see anything that will match the quality of those particle effects from RE4. Those torches, fires and water are really crazy good looking.

But that water does not look better than Ico or MGS2...
Unfair comparision, I'd say. Water in Ico and MGS2 was mostly static, except if you count some cutscenes with water pouring into the room in MGS2. Really, that flowing river water in RE4 is outstandingly well done. I can't think of anything that even compares except for some footage of river water from the MGS3 trailer. Everyone always makes flowing water look bad, it always looks so wrong and awkward that it's painful to look at - RE4 and MGS3 are really the only two games where I can say it's done right. Nature Demos from 3D Mark, strangely, are another place with really good looking flowing water, but I've never seen a PC game come even close to them in that regard.

I was just surprised is all.
This is one of the most impressive games on the horizon, so I was surprised to see that most didn't seem to care.
This forums IQ is a good 100 points higher than most, so I expected to see some in depth conversation.

I wasn't surprised at all. I have the Famitsu Wave DVD, I agree that the graphics is impressive, but not earth shaking. And may be it is just me, the trailer has been talked to death everywhere on the Internet.

I am indeed more interested in Killer 7 than RE4, although I will certainly buy RE4 to complete my RE collection.

marconelly!

Well I suppose you don't really have to be interested in a game itself to at least discuss it on a technical level. Res Evil 4 is definitely a great subject for that sort of discussion, yet nothing is said.

P.S. How anyone could not be at all interested in Res Evil 4 is beyond me.

I wonder why.....

I am just curious what they have done to the previous work they did on Resident Evil 4 (mansion, castle and underground facility footage). Did they threw it all away, or are they recycling it into a game that we'll see somewhere in the near future? :)

Killer 7 give me a fresh and distinct feeling, its style has got me.

Except graphics, RE4 looks just like another survival horror game, I am suffering from playing too much survival horrors/actions games these days, I may be more interested when it is out. Just like I am feeling a lost of interest on SH4 at the moment. Still couldn't get myself to continue playing Siren, although I want to play it.

And to the topic, the graphics is impressive, like the water and the fire, but the animation is still a bit robotic (not smooth), the boat ride in the trailer controls like Mario Kart. I also don't like the animation in SH4.

For RE4, I am most impressed with the destruction of the wooden door by Leon's shotgun than the water and the fire.

Resident Evil 4 is about as far from a standard survival horror game as you can get before turning into a first/third person shooter AFAICS.

I thought the opposite about the games animation. So I suppose its not even worth us discussing that aspect since our opinions are obvious so far appart.

What do you mean exactly by saying that the boat part of Res Evil 4 controls like Mario Kart? I mean you've only seen sveral seconds of it, how can you know how it controls or criticise those controls?
