2 TMU's per pipe
What's much more interesting to me is the Inquirer's predictions that the R350 will have two TMU's per pixel pipe, and a clock speed of 375MHz with DDR1 ram to match. Now *that* would be impressive--IMO, much better than 400MHz with 1 TMU per pipe....(You can read it in the Inquirer's "R350 begins mass production" article, or over on Rage3D or Anandtech, where the Inquirer article is quoted and listed as the source.)
I'd like to believe the 2 TMU's per pipe is true, but I won't believe it until ATI announces it officially. It would however be a much more fundamental, and justifiable, I might add, change over just jacking up the core clock and re-releasing R300 all over again. It would give R350 some real teeth and make catch up just that much more difficult for nVidia. Believe it when I see it, though.
