Looks Dreamcast-ish but with lower res textures. Very nice for a portable.

Is this supposed to play like a in-depth car combat racer, or is it perhaps a bit wider in scope toward a GTA-type?

Hmm... I've been longing for a continuation of the Quarantine game concept, but an Interstate 76 kind of game would do as well...

Looking quite good, the only touch up that there is the usual implementation of AA but other then that they look authentic.

Looks great, but that's hardly surprising seeing as they're affiliated with Evolution Studios - I wonder how their (Evo's) Playstation 3 project is shaping up? :D

Those look great! Polygon count makes me remember DC, but in terms of textures and lightning the game seems to be much more advanced. :)

Apparentlly, it's some kind of free roaming game, so with that in mind, it looks pretty damn good. You are a cop chasing down criminals, jumping from your car to theirs and then trying to wrestle it out into their car and to stop them somehow.

"Much more advanced"? There doesn't seem to even be any per-pixel lighting shown, and the shadows are very basic to almost non-existent. The skies seem to call for an overexposed sunlight effect, but it doesn't look like any alpha effects were used there. The texturing shows roughness, too, with some quite noticeable blurriness.

The polygon counts are what actually look good to me in addition to what looks like some nice speed distortion effect going on in far background in the second screen from the top.

Let's be honest here, texturing looks mediocre and there aren't that many either. Definitely not what most DC titles are capable of. Prebaked lighting looks pretty nice though.

AAAAAAAAANYWAY...

I think this game looks really nice! Das ist eine wunderbhare spiele!

waiting for my NFSU psp game that would launch today in japan, i'm curious how it will look and plays.

I'm waiting for the US version (If it's compatible with the japanese PSP, after the "it might be up to the publishers to add or not region lock" stuff).
But I heard that the PSP version of NFSU was really cool, the final version is a lot better than the crap version shown at the TGS last year.

The game also seem to have steadier framerate than the PS2 version (But that doesn't say much since the PS2 version ran like shiznitz  ).

Hi everyone, thread locked, will do some pruning and taking notes on who took the thread off course.

It's the starting in with condemnation of fan behavior when it hasn't actually got going that ended up being disruptive this time. In the case of this thread, the complaining about the bickering outnumbered any actual bickering, and my earlier system comparison and follow-up commentary were legitimately supported arguments.

All the warning signs were there. The sarcastic treatment thereof was more a condemnation and warning of where it would more likely than not lead. (Face it we've been through them all before--numerous times.)

So yeah, there were a few more posts directed that way--including these last two--but at this point I'm a firm believer in spanking down those before we start.

Let's keep in mind that this game is running on a hand held gaming machine, not a home console, for which it looks good enough imo.
Those screens are obvioulsy AA'd but that's expected nowadays.

Avoiding legitimate discussion out of reluctance for triggering other's inappropriate behavior only brings the level of discourse in the forum down. Almasy's statement, despite it having been left unqualified, was argued at face value, so the discussion wasn't going to be disrupted as far as I or anyone else interested in contributing were concerned.

About the game, no one has suggested anything other than the game looking commendable for a portable title. I was just measuring the PSP graphics to be just some texturing and IQ shy of the level we've gotten on our full, home consoles this generation.

Well, IQ on PSP is pretty damn good, actually. Progressive scan, good mip-mapping, good texture filtering. It's actually on-par with today's consoles, I would say (and by that I don't mean bad examples of IQ on PS2 :p).
