This is contrary to my experience. If you can't stay in front, then you're probably not all that much more skilled than the people in 2nd-5th place. Yes, sometimes, you will get an unlucky run of getting hit by a blue shell, a red shell, another red shell, and then falling off the track, but if you're really that awesome at the game, you can get back up to 1st quickly.Mario Kart mechanics make it near impossible to stay infront, REGARDLESS of skill level.
You only get the big boosts if you are in like 12th place or worse, and if you're that far back, neither a triple mushroom nor a Bullet Bill is not going to take you to #1.Because people that are behind get boosts etc while you dont.
In shooters without player classes...in shooters without experience levels...in shooters without vehicles...In games without speedups etc,

If that wasn't sarcasm, I completely disagree. Several people I know in the age group of 23-32 own a Wii. I think the target audience is for kids and younger / older adults. The bulk of the teen / young adult age group seem to be hardcore gamers. In the end, Wii is really just for kids.

Actually, most of them have toddlers that don't play games yet, or they don't even have kids. The Wii is a great system for when you have people over, regardless of age group... unless you're strictly a hardcore gamer. There's a reason why it's selling so much. The majority on B3D are strictly hardcore gamers, which is why it's the least popular system here. I'm more of a casual / semi-hardcore gamer and so are all of my friends / family.Yes, but for many of them, they don't personally use it as much as the kids or the wife/gf I'll bet.
I have a hard time finding any single males that I know of that have a Wii that isn't gathering dust most of the time... There are some rare exceptions, of course.

You were talking about "skill," so I assumed you were talking about multiplayer. I usually do not think of machines as having "skill." But you're right, beating 150cc class just by cruising up to the front and saying there is impossible, since the computer will just give itself three blue shells and slam you with them at the end of the last lap. But so what? If you want to race a grand prix where merely knowing the course lines is sufficient to win, play 50cc or 100cc. If you want to race a more difficult challenge that requires pure driving skill to win, race the staff ghosts. The way I see it, the whole point of the 150cc class is to be an absurdly difficult challenge that can't be overcome merely by steering correctly and charing up boosts. It's still winnable. Complaining that you can't beat the 150cc class just by driving a good line is like complaining that you can't beat Halo on Legendary just by using the shotgun and circle-strafing.AI on max difficulity, i found it impossible to win by trying to stay in front. No problem to win if you just stay in 2nd until second last or last corner and overtake.
i beg to differ. i'm yet to meet a seasoned gamer who does not play their wii regularly. all my friends who've had consoles for generations have a wii and use it fairly often. myself, the wii's easily the most played non-handheld system in the house (mainly by me - my wife is exclusively ds/psp). actually i believe that by now the wii's surpassed my cumulative ps2/cube play time. in contrast, my ps3 playtime amasses around tekken6, and until gt5 comes out (and logitech's g25 comes down in prices around here, greedy bastards) my ps3 will be mainly my relaxation console with flower (a pretty darn good easy-going game - i heartily recommend it to anyone and show it to non-gaming friends when they visit).Actually, most of them have toddlers that don't play games yet, or they don't even have kids.
