[PS3] Uncharted 2

I actually got to like the temple level as well as getting maybe 1/3 of the way familiarized with the ice caves. Really good games tonight and I'm not a competitive mp player on consoles.

Just found the last treasure! Overall they had them hidden a lot better this time around. Now all I have to get is the 200 GAU kills to get the last trophy.

Once I get that I'll be playing a lot more MP. Question about ranked games: what does the little number next to the player level mean? I thought it was number of games you won but I've lost a few (two I think) and it hasn't gone down...

Well it goes down when you loose, but I'm guessing you may need to loose more than once depending on your level.

The thing is, when you always play with the same party all the skill levels change similarly independent of how you play individually, so it's seems it only tracks win/loose (though it may be win/loose + aggregate skill of the other team or something but individual k/d don't seem to matter.

Good link PhilB. I was using maximum, but might switch to wide. Glad I didn't choose normal, because I have a stereo speaker setup, but they're proper speakers, not the crap they build into TVs. I would have been defaulted to the Narrow option. They must figure no one uses stereo speakers unless they're using mini systems or tv speakers.

So which option is best for HDMI 7.1 LPCM? I only have a 5.1 setup, but my AVR simulates surround back speakers. I'm currently using default.

Edit: According to him, Default is best.

Looks like a patch/update was just released for the game (1.01). Came in at about 20mb. I have no idea what it contained.

I finished the single player campaign yesterday and it was a pretty good experience. Some of the scripting was a bit annoying and I hated how many times the game stole my guns :)

I wasn't instantly hooked, but after a few chapters I started to enjoy playing it. Melee and grenade throwing have improved greatly compared to the first game and they were actually very usable now. I played it on normal without hints, which was quite easy, but there were few spots later on that offered some challenge.

I don't know if it's as good as the metascore suggest, but still a very good and polished thrill ride.

9.2/10

I appreciate the audio dynamic option on some recent PS3 games, as a recognition that many PS3s are plugged into people's home theatres. I played Uncharted 2 on Max, which was quite good for my setup (3000W of sub in a home theatre with an 18 foot ceiling).

Finally beat the game tonight. What a ride. The pacing and length are perfect. Everything about U2 is better than the first IMHO. Only problem I had was the game froze on me once
after you defeat the group of soldiers and scarecrows and you make your way up to the Cintamani Stone
. I checked my save file and it said the last save was 2 hours ago, but fortunately it resumed where I left off. Says my playtime was 11hrs and 30 minutes, but I took some time looking for treasures (not a lot of time) and some parts took me longer than they should have.

After reading many say that Hard is a good starting difficulty, I think I must be losing my touch, because I found Normal quite challenging at times and thought it was a good difficulty level to start at. Gonna start my run on Hard right away.

I also like how you're given money to spend on game tweaks etc., rather than unlocking them so you can pretty much choose what you want.

Had the same crash on my final playthrough. I found normal a good way to start as well, so you know how you aproach the game on the harder settings. The only things that gave me a headache on hard/crushing were the bosses. Thank god people already found some tricks to make it easy.

"Only problem I had was the game froze on me once"

Had the same problem at the same place on twice. Apparently it's not an isolated incident either. I've heard several others who've gotten this as well. At least it didn't mess up my save.

Yep I had the same crash as well, it was the only time it crashed. The fight was pretty long and I was actually horrified when the game crashed, but luckily it had autosaved like 2 seconds before the crash.

I am at the
Tibetan Village
! What I can say as of now is " How is this possible on the ps3???" As soon as you enter that place, it feels CG. I must say, I have never seen anything like that even on my PC, and I am not exaggerating. It was totally shocking to see that I could explore that place with those graphics. Otherwise also the game is visually the best out there, but that place is exceptionally extraordinary. Cryengine2 has serious competition  !

Gameplay wise, Uncharted 1 was a cover based shooter, this one , OTOH, is an adventure game, with every element sprinkled in appropriate amounts ! Feels like playing a movie, not a game. No, actually ,feels like playing a novel is more appropriate, as reading a novel, you can go back, re-read, explore and imagine, that is what it feels like :) ! Its nice to be there.

And yes , for the first time a game has actual humour :D ! I have been laughing at jokes quite a few times now, and it keeps me smiling, happy all the time :) !

Watch out , Insomniac and Crytek, the Dogs just stole the show !!! !

Ah yes, Chapter 16... I remember it was 2-3am and I wanted to wake the whole world up to see it. It's almost like NaughtyDog teleported a Tibetan village to my livingroom, almost. :p

Finished the SP for the first time. Took me about 10 hours, died a helluva lot of times on hard, but this is unrelated to the difficulty as 99% of the deaths are just me not knowing where to go when platforming and taking a idiotic jump. Sometimes i had a hard time seeing where to go next, but this is more likely related to my soberness level.

Overall i really really really enjoyed the game.

It is a graphical showpiece
(but comparing it to say crysis, like some here is silly, Crysis is far more impressive, and its not even linear, but at the same time you need 4 times more powerful gpu's to run it properly).

This game was even more movie\comic like than the first one, and i really enjoyed it. Best singleplayer game ive played so far on these "new" consoles. I enjoyed the variety of levels and the change in pace. My favorite part is probably the train levels.

Im looking forward to getting all the treasures and complete it on crushing in the holidays.

I got it 2 weeks ago.... still only at chapter 15 (, but already got an award for 100 headshots)
I was really disappointed when I started the game, the first levels are quite boring IMHO. especially the museum level where I often enough tried to climb those unclimbable ledges and fences that are literally everywhere. And the cutscenes break up the little action that there is way to often
Luckily it really picks up at Chapter 5 or so and totally grabs you. The attention to the characters is great, especially as they often remark your actions outside of the cutscenes.. really feels like persons and not some luggage you carry around with.

The only thing I hate so far is the blindfire ability, I play the game on hard and the firefights are challenging often enough, unless you just use blindfire... I try to do without it, but sometimes its hard not to use.
That and having way to much rewards based on collectable treasures (same issue with the first one.. I still haven't got my Donut-Drake), especially with the problem that climbable/unclimbable ledges don't follow any kind of logic.

DO NOT FORCE 1080P! It really kills the look of the game. There is a lot of weird aliasing and shimmering. The game looks far better at 720p. It was very apparent to me that the two resolutions are not equal, and I'm rarely that picky.
