While our tests were far from thorough, the initial results from our quick-and-dirty decibel ratings show some promise. With a baseline of 49 decibels, the Slim averaged 53 to 56 db when in use / playing a game / installing data (in this case, Metal Gear Solid 4), compared to the 55 to 58 db of the original. Blu-ray movie playback is where it becomes noticeable, as the slim peaked for us at 60 db when the original was doing 70 db running the same disc.
The new hardware was only officially announced by Sony yesterday, but already the console has climbed to the top of the charts on the firm's US and UK sites.
Someone slip a wattmeter under their door please. I can't believe we have a measured noise level but no power draw figures yet.
It's so unclear, I'd prefer to just have it measured. And a clear statement whether or not there's a power brick would be nice tooWell we do have an official word on power, 33% lower (peak?).

As usual, his responses are straightforward. He talked a little about the timing and motivation of the Slim model + price drop. Also touched on PSP Minis and digital comics.

Any angle from the top-down looks fine, but... horizontal is exactly how I would have been placing it and seeing it in my setup... :[

The one dimension is 0.6" larger, but overall it's much smaller than the original and 360 (especially considering the PSU).
Do people really stack things on their consoles? How many things are on your 360 SB?
I've got my dedicated DVD player on top of the X360 as it's the smaller unit. And my Wii sits on top of the DVD player.
Sounds like a RROD waiting to happen. I've always had my 360 vertical and sitting on a non-enclosed shelf on my entertainment center with enough air surrounding it to keep it cool.

Still not very stackable.
I won't be suprised if MS saves their slimmed version for Natal for next year (probably even with a new name)
