Speaking on conditions of strict anonymity, a trusted insider source has revealed to C&VG that Sony will unveil an actual prototype PS3 unit on their next-generation booth and that rather than just a mock up, it will be a near final design of the next generation of PlayStation.

It's been such a closely guarded secret that the appearance of PS3 has been deliberately kept off any show program sheet and will apparently be kept under strict guard by members of the LAPD.

If we have "near-final" hardware now, first i must ask how near are we talking about, and second, when is this bloody thing gonna get released?!
I think Sony don't really want to give MS much of a headstart. And i'm beginning to think a nice PS3 with just a DVD drive could be good enough, considering the money they'll save could go towards better processors or more RAM.

I think they're talking about near-final design, not hardware.

It'll probably be an empty case behind glass.

It'd be surprising (and nice) to see how the final unit will look though.

I believe they had guards at the PS2 "pyramid" at E3 2001 too ;)

Of course we have no idea how valid this is, but hopefully it'll be true and we can end all this speculation about RAM, specs, blah blah.
 
Sometimes I wonder if these websites just post their good guesses as "insider source" news :LOL:

I mean, hasn't it been confirmed (by Sony) that Sony would show the PS3 at E3 in some form or another.

You mean like how every website had PDZ "exclusive news"? Journalists, and worse, internet ones, love the terms "exclusives" and "insider". :LOL:
 
IF its true and they are launching in japan sometime in march then i would think the system specs would be basicly nailed down now . Cell configuration , ram configuration , gpu configureation . WIth clock speeds being the only thing that might change in the coming months
 
near final like as in : the psp last E3
empty shells with rolling demos shown from a pc behind the wall...

and when is that ? I have only said what i've heard . I don't claim to have inside sources
 
I think it will be more like the PSP and DS being shown then changed alittle for the better based off of reviews of the prototype.

Seriously though, if you were in Compton at nightfall in a blockade to stop a "suspect" who is refusing to stop, you might be sufficiently "edgy" to be a little hair-trigger, no?
 
Yeah randy pretty sad what happened huh? Lets hope that some Sony execs. doesn't take a wrong turn and end up in Compton and the police tell them to stop and they don't understand english. We might not have a next-gen console. :cry:

Oh, going by that Compton incident, there's nothing to worry about. They'll manage to miss all the vital hardware, simply leaving some extra ventilation and peppering the surrounding booths.
