ps2 component cable question

I just got a 32" Samsung TV with component inputs and I need to purchase component cables for my PS2. At Best Buy the Sony brand was $30 and the Mad Katz brand was $10. The difference seems to be the Sony connectors are gold plated while the Mad Katz connectors are Nickel plated.

Does anyone know if the Sony cables will be noticeably better?

Thanks.

WHAT u should ask yourself is not where we are, but WHEN......

i mean...... u should ask yourself whether the very negligible difference between the 2 is actually worth 20 bucks............... and remember we're talking about ps2 and a 32" samsung TV, not a pro-scan DVD player and a plasma screen u know what i mean....

go cheap sweetie

Good. I was hoping no one would convince me to spend the extra $20 and I don't really feel like buying both to test out the difference.

Thanks guys.

I don't know about Mad Katz, but I have 5 Component video cables for my PS2s, 2 of them are working original Sony brand, 1 failed (blue signal wire) original Sony brand, 1 fake Sony brand (which I thought it was original when I bought it, cannot be distinguished from the original, the same cable and connectors were used) and 1 Monster 400 series cable.

I see no difference between the 3 original and the 1 fake cable, the Monster does give a tad bit better (really just a little bit) better colour shades on my display.

I am not sure if the Sony cable is gold plated, but I think it isn't, just that it looks like that.

I think the Sony cable is a bit fragile, if you are connecting and disconnecting a lot, it may break like my failed one.

The original Sony component video cable was around HK$170 (~ US$22) here in Hong Kong.

Just get the cheaper ones. With something that gives high quality signal as component output does, there's no chance you'll see difference in quality between cables.
