PS Eye Problem Help Please

Ok guys having problem with my PS3 recognizing my Playstation Eye. I have registered a complaint with Sony Help but this being a new device they only promised to contact me back.

Does anyone have the accessory and/if have they received any problems using it.

All help is appreciated.

Can't wait for your impressions!

Sorry patsu nothing so far, the camera simply isnt being recognized (kind of a bummer).

Spoke with Sony support earlier and they said they have had a few calls but since it is a new accessory there was a relatively small knowledge/troubleshooting base.

The link should provide various attempts at trouble shooting and Im kind of at a loss here.

If I dont hear back from Sony tomorrow Ill simply pick up another one.

It should basically already be available. I noticed on Play.com you can order it, the game and booster packs (seems expensive though, something like 92 euro for the PS Eye, Eye of Judgment, Stand, Mat, etc.).

PS Eye as a standalone is coming in two weeks, it seems. There are also 4 PS Eye related PSN titles up for download as of yesterday.

EOJ does look kinds expensive. More than EyeToy Play, which had the game free, or camera free, whichever way you look at it. It's almost a dollar for pound conversion - $70 US >> £60 UK. The PSEye is $40, so the game is half-price, including all the paraphernalia that's great value. The UK Eye price is £25, so that's £35 for the game and gumph. When 1st party PS3 games are £40 and available for £30, that makes EOJ actually a more expensive title. Bad call, Sony! If you want people to grab this device and those camera games on downloads, you need it to look great value! A little above a normal game like the US and you'd get a lot more casual (not as in 'casual gamers' casual, but 'gamers casually looking around for something to buy' casual) attention.

I agree that it will inhibit it's uptake. Mind you, the game does come with additional hardware stuff like a PS Eye stand, mat, and cards. That does count for something. If I bought the PS Eye for 40 euro and then bought the game with these additional things for 50, I'd not feel like it wasn't worth it. But since they basically release Eye of Judgment even before the PS Eye was released, it is (at least for two weeks) assigned a certain market position that doesn't suit such a high price.

So I agree that they could have handled that better, and I hope they release the game separately without the PS Eye soon, so that people can buy the PS Eye first for the PSN games, EyeCreate, Video chatting and Burnout 5 and its family, and then buy the game separately.

My ideal scenario for Sony would have been to make EoJ very cheap together with the PS Eye, maybe for the price of a regular game, and then hope it is a success and make some money from having the PS Eye as a platform, and the additional card sets. Then again, this is what they are doing in the US it seems, and maybe the price conversion is just a temporary snafu and it will end up 69.99 euro in stores.

Exactly. This is EOJ as a product rather than a platform, to be sold on it's merit rather than sold to the masses because it's so cheap and they get so much, they can't refuse!
