We need to get an idea on an industrial project and we also need a sponsor. The project will start in the 3rd year however we want to sort things out now which was also advised by the lecturers.
The problem is that we have very little in the way of ideas and external knowledge(We are Computer science students so we don't know much in the way of anything of advanced physics and stuff) and I would love some suggestions from you grads over here.
Only serious stuff please, my friends will be reading this.
Our current discussion have fallen short.
We thought about making a timetable sorter, we could use genetic algorithms and neural nets for it but I thought it wouldn't be as much of a challenge and wont use all ours skills appropriately, moreso in my case due to me specialising in mathematical analysis/computer graphics.
We thought about a game(friends not convinced it's possible and think that graphics in 3D are required to be mindblowing(Doom 3)).
We thought about measuring rock decay which could be used in archeology and will take image processing skills which 3 of the 4 of us are doing that class now.
We also thought about doing something with electornics, however we don't know what we can do in that field exactly.
Our issue is that it has to be realistic and it has to be useful and important enough for our project to be of practical use to someone.
Given that you guys have many different qualifications in different fields we would absolutely love your help in this matter.
Is it possible to convince my friends that it's possible to do a game? It's not like we are newbie programmers or newbies in particular. The main thing against the game, is that we want to use this to demonstrate our abilities and possibly use it in job interviews to demonstrate what we have done. My friends are convinced that others will only care about the graphics, and that this will understate our achievements.
Thanks for your time and help.
