Problem with computer

My friend has a asus motherboard A7N8x Deluxe, 512 mb ddr ram, amd xp 2800 processor, ati video card, sound blaster audiology zs, and 500w power supply with 5 fans. His computer almost always turns off at 53C. He called Asus and they think that it might be a grounding problem.

I haven't been able to try and work on it because he lives 2 hours away, but I'm going there tonight.

Sorry, his CPU. As far as the Asus Prober is concerned.

sounds like a poorly-set failsafe emergency shutoff? check the BIOS to see if it is set to shut the computer down if the CPU gets a certain temp.
