hi just wondered what kinda setups you guys have for your current machines.

mine:

Xbox,GC, PS2

RGB lead connects(Spider - shared)

multi purpose VGA box --> 17" flatpanel

28" sony trinitron (100Hz digital scan).

Xbox, PS2, DC
20" Flat screen Toshiba CRT
PS2 with component cable, Xbox with S-Video, DC with composite (also use it with VGA on my PC monitor)
MidiLand 5.1 system (got it dirt cheap on ebay, and it's surprisingly good)

nice :D

why no Component for Xbox( unless of course u ran outta connectors on ur tv).

That's exactly the reason. I ran out of connectors, and I use PS2 more often (also for DVD watching) Pro-scan is also not a factor as the TV doesn't support it :\

I have them both connected to audio receiver using digital cables, though - PS2 with optical, Xbox with optical -> copper cable (using radioshack converter :p ) That's because receiver has only one optical and one copper digital input. Everything works like charm!

PS2, connected with s-video to 52" RPTV.
Sony STR-DB840QS Dolby Digital / DTS receiver, 5.1 setup.
And old 300MHz PII PC (not a gaming PC anymore, except for snes emulators)

marconelly:

this might sound like a plug but I'd reommend the Spider all-in-one RGB lead.
(there is some slight signal degradation as a trade off though).

PC : P4 2.66G/ATI R9700pro

Consoles : XB, GC, PS2 x 3, DC

Video processing : Propriety video processor prototype. Transcoder

Display : Philips 170W4P 17" widescreen LCD monitor

Sound : Sony HT-K215 DD/DTS 5.1 system, and 2 pretty good headphone systems

TV - Orion 76cm widescreen TV. 100Hz. Composite, S-vid, RGB SCART and VGA support.

Xbox with a VGA Box (Gasper), PS2 with RGB SCART, GC with Composite (no s-vid in PAL console ugh!!), Dreamcast with VGA Box.

Sound via an old 90's model Sony Pro Logic system.

Guess which component is getting the upgrade treatment next?

VGA support? ...jebus

there no s-vid in PAL GC, it supports RGB tho (good luck finding a cable that works).

Truth be told, I'd much rather a TV with component progressive support. Much easier to deal with in terms of component cables vs VGA boxes. Although I've seen a few TVs around lately with both..hmmm..

I've held off buying an RGB SCART cable for GC because I want one with stereo cables. So far the only one I find is sold for nearly $50 AUD via a local importer.

As we say - bugger that.

17" LCD display, pro-scan compatible up to 1068x768 (i think) or more than capable of doing 720p, not that it is supported here in europe but i was thinking ahead of time

Ps2 with Blaze VGA Adapter (for the games that work with it) and Blaze RGB cables for everyhting else.

DVD REGION X so i dont get the green screen when watching DVDs at full RGB resolution as well as watching DVDs from any region (pretty cool software actually)

Sony STR-somethingsomethingsomething DD-DTS 5.1 system connected with optical cable to the PS2 (definately provides the best CD Playback i've heard. ever)

You can have it now, just buy the Philips 170W4p monitor (1280x768) and a transcoder, or wait a bit longer for cheaper models from Samsung which is also 17" wide screen with TV tuner and HDTV component inputs.

PS2/GC both on composite (grr) to old 14" Sony TV, have to fiddle behind it to switch between them, grrr.

Have S-video cable ready for PS2 when I buy a better TV, and will mod a Nintendo RGB cable to provide stereo in/out capability when I can afford one (heh).

5.1 surround sound via Sony HT-BE1, PS2 on optical and GC on analog (duh). Sweeeee-eet quality. :)

Sony 29" 4:3 TV (nice 16:9 mode though)
Sony STR-DA 50ES (DTS/AC3 amp), LS from B&W
Sony PS2 connected via RGB, planned: 19" Sony CRT using LinuxKit-VGA-adapter for VGA/p-scan
Nintendo GameCube via RGB, planned: 19" Sony CRT using modified component cable for VGA/p-scan

You can see my game room here, before I cleaned up some of the cables and got a Ps2 vertical stand:

32 inch Toshiba HDTV
Onkyo receiver and speakers
Xbox connected through MS HD pack, using my own higher-quality component cables though
Ps2 connected through Sony component cables
Gamecube connected through NoJ component cables

Unfortunately this setup kind of sucks for my needs. I can only have two component sources connected to my TV at a time. One of these is always my DVD player (Panasonic RP62 with the Faroudja chip). So I have to swap the cables blindly whenever I want to switch consoles. But I refuse to compromise on visual quality :devilish:

Fortunately for my birthday (only three weeks!) I'm getting a new setup from my girlfriend. Leaning towards Sony's Personal Entertainment Display, but the Samsung LTM1755 is also a possibility. Then I'll probably get a cheaper surround sound setup to go with this, like a Extigy and Creative 5.1 speakers. I'll take my CRT and use it as a general-purpose display in our living room, with the DVD player and maybe I'll even get one of Comcast's HDTV boxes.

Wow not bad.. we have a similar setup (though when I play in the livingroom - the other setup is pretty..)

Anyway, Philips 32" 100Hz Widescreen
Sony STR-DA50ES with LS from BOSE (Accoustimass 15)
PS2 connected using RGB.

BTW; you have nice speakers, I hate BOSE. Luckily, I never bought 'em...

Hehe, not suprising ... after having similar opinions

How is that 100Hz TV working out for you? Before buying my current TV, I've sampled a few 100Hz TVs, but all those digital picture enhancers seemed not to be able to display a videogames signal very well. They worked wonders for TV and DVD viewing though ...

Yeah, I love my B&Ws, their bass and treble chassis are brilliant. Not to mention B&W's 12 year warranty. I've once blew one of my basses (little drum'n'bass-party, house was quaking 8)), they've replaced it without any trouble.

i used to have a 36" Panasonic 100Hz TV which was just great.

the picture enhancer was a bit messy at times though, although not for games. actually the games and DVD's looked great, the contrast was unbelievable.. it was blinding at times

but yeah, some 100Hz TV's can produce some artifacts, mainly due to their picture enhancing chipset

Why don't you use your PS2 for DVD playback? I do, it gives excellent picture quality, and the early comptibility problems seems to have gone completely. My PS2 has never met a disc it's barfed on. :)

...Unlike PowerDVD on my PC, I might add. Earlier versions always crashed on my Alien4 disc, and some movies (like the UK special ed. of Fargo) stutters badly.
