Pick your poison you damn alcoholics!

I definately can tell the difference between bottled and canned, also Pepsi and Coke I can tell the difference. I usually have problems telling the difference between Pepsi and Coke when it is from a restaurant, mainly because the mixtures are severely different.

Drinking plain water is the best for healthy. Too much alcohol is :devilish:

Wow, comparing $3.99 el-cheapo vodka to topshelf? That's a sin. :)

Of the topshelf vodkas, I actually like Vox the best. Still, I would have to say that my favorite vodka is Tanq Sterling. Very smooth, and it's got a very very subtle taste. It's also about middle of the road in terms of price.

So far I haven't been all that terribly impressed with any of the moderately expensive whiskeys and scotches I've tried (not a lot admittedly). My favorite so far is probably a $30-40 bottle of doublewood scotch we bought (which is pretty good for scotch). Some of my friend's shelled out for Glenfiddich and I really didn't like it much. It had a really harsh flavor.

For New Years, I decided to try something new any actually it's become a couple of my friend's new favorite drink. I have to say I've become pretty fond of it too. It's Linie Aquavit. *very* good stuff. It's a bit like a scotch or a whiskey, but it's encredibly smooth. It has a *really* good flavor as well. About $18 a bottle too.

I had some courvoisier tonight and I must sayt aht I wasn't that impressed. It was pretty smooth and had a sweet taste but I still like Jack Daniels better. It also had a syruppy smell to it.

But you can't really compare a Cognac to Whisky - totally different beasts.

I quite like some single malts such as Glenmorangie - mainly the paler ones I prefer.

How about Absinthe? Anybody else tried this lovely ( ) drink?

Thinking about it, I believe it's still illegal in most of Europe, although I'm not too sure about the US.

Actually when they both get old enough they share many of the same qualities.

Personal preferences: McAllan 30 year (Yes I have one, having a brother working for a whiskey specialist in Edinburgh has its perks 8) ), Bowmore Darkest Islay ( for a cheap good Islay whiskey) and Talisker 10 year ... and alot of others. If you like Islay whiskeys, you should try to get Chieftains (independent bottler) Caol Isla red wine wood finish, it's superb and cheap too.

They have a special wood finish one that has a scent of apples, I loved that oned. If you like Glenmorangie you'd like most Speyside and Highland Whiskeys, all very smooth and round in taste and flavour with lots of sherry to them (especially the McAllans).
