Pick your poison you damn alcoholics!

You should not be drinking too much. My dad say it will harm your liver bad.

What's this about those ultra-expensive vodka brands? Absolut, Finlandia, Danzka etc. It's vodka, for crying out loud! Tastes all the same und even if it didn't I wouldn't care after the 3rd shotglass. Why buy a bottle of Absolut for €15 if I can have el-cheapo vodka for €3.99? It's not like vodka was like whisky where you can actually taste a difference between some cheap blended piss (Jim Beam e.g.) and a 15 year old single malt.

So my favourite alcohol would be Vodka Uranov/Rachmaninov/Zarewitsch/Gorbatschov/whatever, as long as the price is <€5 :)

I have never been drunk a day in my life.

I would have picked up something higher proof then the vodka but the liquor i was looking for isn't sold around here (something around 198 proof). I was planning on using it for mixing anyway.

Someone once told me that drinking is a dirty habit; I of course replied that so is wiping my butt, but somebody needs to do it...

I think its a personal choice.

It all depends on what i'm doing. Normaly its blue label johny walker. Although i will have like 5 shots of black label and then finish myself off with everclear. To give you an idea of my life. New years eve , 3 blunts of weed , a hit of x and 20 shots of diffrent liquer. no throwing up , no passing out. I'm a big boy and i like partying

Well as long as you don't substitute your daily water with alcohol you should be alright. ;)

That's not enough, you need to at least quad that amount. :devilish:

Mario Party is a good drunken game.

And there is a huge difference in Vodka taste. Go take a shot of Skol or Osco Brand Vodka and then take a shot of Skyy, Stolichnaya or grey goose. There is a huge difference.

If you are truly from Germany then the same way different beers taste differently, same with vodka. What are you some uncultured swine.

Hardly. I can taste differences in beer, in wine and in whiskey. But vodka? Oh please. Sure one brand might taste a bit milder than the other but that's about it. Don't tell me that Finlandia or Absolut taste "better" than some cheapo vodka. It's probably exactly the same crap as any cheapo vodka brand, anyway. Just in a fancy bottle.

It's not like there was an aging process involved or you could actually taste what kind of wood the barrel was made of or whatever. Honestly, why is Absolut so expensive? Do they hand-pick their wheat, rye or potatoes or whatever it is made of?

There is just nothing about the vodka production process which could possibly lead to a huge discrepancy in quality or taste - as long as you know what you are doing.

Hell, I am sure there might be some nutters claiming to be able to taste what kind of charcoal was used for filtering. Yes, there are subtle differences in taste but is more like a "Coke vs. Pepsi" difference and not a "Jim Beam vs. Dalwhinny 15 year old" difference. It does not really matter.

I don't know what Dalwhinny is, but I can readily taste the difference between Coke and Pepsi, and I much prefer Coke. The difference in taste is to the point that I drink Coke by the case, but if a restaurant serves Pepsi products, I'll just drink water. I can also easily tell whether the Coke came from a can or a plastic bottle.

The importance of the subtle difference in vodkas depends greatly on how you are using it, I imagine. If you're mixing a kool-aid drink in a garbage can, a few cheap 1.75 liter bottles of generic vodka will be just fine.

My drinks of choice right now are a dry gin martini w/ 2 olives, and white russians. I don't like the mass-market american beers, but Leinenkugel's and smaller micro-brews are pretty good. I'll occasionally drink a bottle of white zinfadel, too.

Dalwhinnie.

Anyway, the point ist not that there isn't a difference between Coke and Pepsi. There is and personally, I can only stand Diet Coke. Classic Coke and anything produced by Pepsi with the exception of Mountain Dew (which isn't available here anyway) makes me want to barf out my soul.

The point is that you cannot objectively claim that Pepsi is better or worse than Coke (or vv). It's simply a matter of personal preference. It is not like sugared water by Coke was of inherently higher quality than sugared water by Pepsi. A 10+ year old single malt Scotch on the other hand IS of higher quality than whatever piss Jim Beam Co. sell as whisky. That's what I was trying to say in reference to vodka - I just don't see any notable difference in quality between cheap and expensive vodka and I honestly doubt there is any. In the case of stuff like vodka, it's all marketing and psychology.

Yes and my point is that the "generic" vodka is pretty much the same as the brand vodka. Because it's vodka.

A bit harsh, if you ask me. I'm not a great fan of Vodka of any description but I can appreciate differences between different brands.

I'm told that different Tequilas (Mezcals?) can be obtained which are similar to Malt whisky, but the only time I've come across Tequila is when I'm pissed out of my brain already and therefore can't appreciate any taste whatsoever

Drinkswise, my favourite at the moment (apart from decent beer) is Gin & Tonic - I used to like Bombay Sapphire, but I've found Plymouth Gin is much better. The amusing thing about this stuff is that the building in which it is distilled was the place where the Pilgrim Fathers slept before they began their journey! Obviously, it wasn't a distillery in those days!

One final word: (American) Budweiser - No! Every time I've had a bottle of this stuff I've wondered where they left the taste.

I am the same way although I ask the waiter to pretend with me that the pepsi is coke.
