Parheila twice as fast as GF4 4600 in New World Oder game

The first statement of the guy (Edward), seems to me quite abnormal. He says that the P-512 on Max Payne maxx quality + Aniso beats a GF4 TI 4600.

I don't know what he is comparing (same level of aniso?), but for what i have seen on the different reviews, it seems quite unbelivable.

for the rest, why not ;)

My understanding was that he said it beats the GF4 when both are running FAA and AF. Isn't that what the Parheila was mean't to do?

Well i don't think, cos in it's statement of the 4th of july (20:11) he speaks sepcificly of FAA, so i assume that it's first statement is on max qulity +aniso without FAA.

But i could be wrong.

Gee. Look at Parhelia specs, then compare it to the Gf4. This card BETTER be owning it, alittle over double the bandwidth, 256 DDr interface, good lord.

Oranges.. to apples maybe?

I would like to see a screen shot with 16 AA enabled on the NWO MP test.

Matrox is supposed to be one of the hardware vendors working with Termite, so its plausible NWO runs really fast on a Parhelia because of driver optomizations. Also pixel shaders performance in NWO may play a much bigger role compared to other games.

the guy has just uploaded some pics, he wasn't lieing about his fps either it seems quite high. If only other games would run like this on the parhelia :(

Sure it's fast in that game .

The game has been build special for ATi's R8500 and has native PS1.4 support .

The UT2003 has only PS 1.3 support ...

Hmmm...might it be reasonable to think that the R8500 might get a nice performance boost in UT2003 if PS1.4 were implemented?

:-?

Epic & nVidia? Nooooo...

BTW ... if those pics are so big and so many of them ... why wouldn't you just post the links ?

You're killing my Dial-Up .

Sorry about your dial-up, I forget about the 99% of online users not having broadband all the time.

I'll check out and see what I come up with for Parhelia on performance and AA and letcha know

I've had dial up...I never understood this complaint...if the picture is taking so long, why can't you just skip it?

Until early this year, I was on 56k for quite a while, and I still don't understand what the issue is here. If I got tired of waiting for the picture to load, I skipped to the next page.

On the other hand, Carmack uses PS 1.4 (or at least the extra texture capability of the R8500) in Doom 3 and the GeForce 4 was still faster.
Even though the GF4 has to do 2-3 passes vs 1 for the 8500.
So it might be other things that are slowing down the 8500 in UT 2003.
