Ouch, I beg to disagree. I hate the damn cornyness and all that 'cool' (if you're 12 years old) in DMC... and it's graphics certainly don't even come close to Oni 3 (field rendered and really jaggy at that). That fire temple at the Oni 3 beginning looks just nuts.but nowhere near Devil May Cry in terms of presentation and pure style.

Really, of all the things you could have picked up which made DMC the ground breaking game it is, story should have been the last one!

Ok, so the story wasn't anything super-evolved for the time it came out. Meaning it wasn't anything groundbreaking. But it was still something that really wasn't attempted. Meaning demon slayer etc, which I thought to be a very good story. At the end of DMC I was left wanting more in terms of story which I thought I would get with DMC2 but failed to deliver. In any event O3 is still quite amazing. The cutscenes aren't really flawless and the voice acting isn't oscar worthy but then again when has a game had really great voice acting on the PS2? Because I don't remember ever having one be that good, or maybe it's just my hangover.

Hmm, seems pretty nicely filtered to me. I think it does what some other PS2 games are doing for some time now - software filtering at GS + passing to CRTC (remember the soft/hard option in SH3?) That way you get the best image quality on interlaced TV with PS2, IMO.but the output doesn't seem properly filtered. I suppose they scale the buffer down to a half height front buffer, instead of keeping it and let the CRTC handle flickerfixing.
