OMG GTA4 trailer on March 29th!

yeah test drive and just cause, but you can't do as many things as in GTA San Andreas, et we can be sure that GTA4 will be bigger than that, and since they had some problems to fit GTA:SA on a single DVD, it will be even tougher to fit the next one. It could be the first double face DVD game ever.

gta:sa took up a dual-layer dvd but that was mainly because of all the audio so I'm guessing they can compress it more with next-gen consoles because of how easily Oblivion fit.

I don't think the ps2 could even play mp3's without a mod, I might be wrong though. The game was a 3GB install on PC and had a dramatically lower load time than the last games (I think the textures were lower res than gta3 and gta:vc) so it shouldn't be a problem.

Getaway is already a crime game in London, Yakuza is another big game that did it in Japan. They might not even do it outside of the US but who knows? five days.

they only had problems on the PS2 because of not being able to use audio compression or something along those lines. It's been discussed here before the the biggest part of the gta games have been the audio

That and I'm willing to bet the the lead platform is the 360, which means they will probably limit themselves to what will fit on the disc

anyway, did they have any mention of a PC version, there was a pretty good modding community for the gta games, and it's always nice to play gta with real cars

That last part is what it's all about IMO. I didn't like GTA:SA (the only one I've tried) one bit. I'm always playing Crackdown longer than planned however...

Exactly as I feel...but ... I'm looking forward to see if they take it up a notch so I might enjoy GTA this gen.

A game on GTA4's engine is already released, so I agree with yoy. I didn't like last-gen GTA either, because the games had completely linear missions. Hopefully they'll follow the trend and make missions nonlinear (like in Crackdown, Mercenaries, probably Assassin's Creed), so that they're actually fun.

I would see three or four cities, each one in a different country, would be really amazing.
maybe if they did it in a fake europe (cause countries are close together) and had you crossing the border and things. That could actually be pretty fun with smuggling missions and whatnot.

I'll throw a guess in

Given that previous GTA games have all been set in distinctive "American" locations with names that refer to the inspiration without citing it directly, I'll guess

Grand Theft Auto: Alamo

I mean, once you've got the east coast / big city, and you've got the west coast, and you've got florida, what else is distinctively different in the US? GTA: Olympia? GTA: Bayouville? GTA: Smoky Mountains? GTA: Cape Cod?

Whatever the setting, they'll have to speak English, and it will have to be distinctive so if it's not London, I'll guess Texas.

Or, heck, maybe they're going to go all Assassin's Creed on us and it'll be on Mars.
