Official Nintendo E3 press conference thread

I just saw the G4tv video for Wii sports resort. The sword fighting looks like it's a lot of fun. It kinda reminded me of Wii sports boxing, should be crazy fun with friends and family.

The way Reggie mention that they are showing 3 of the games tells me there are more games in "resort." I remember they only showed 3 games with Wii sports the first time too, and it ended up with 5.

I hope that Ninty is not resting on its laurels.

Nintendo doesnt seem to show anything beyond the mainstream stuff (makes some sense, given the way E3 is now). For example you have the wario 2d game which looks really awsome but I dont think they showed it or even mentioned it. Still I hope there will be more real games from nintendo. Didnt they mention they had some good things for the '''hardcore'' coming up at E3? Because it seems as there are getting less and less games from both nintendo and 3rd party that are worth it if your not into the wiisport stuff. Kinda shitty as I think as the platform deserves more I think. I think its especially bad nintendo putting out so little for their long time followers because in the end they will be the ones that even make the not so succesfull consoles atleast somewhat succesfull in the money department, I think they deserve more especially as it can never take that much workers to make those wiifit games.

Also, whats going on with the DS? GTA, nice, but when was the last time nintendo made something good? I think zelda was the last.

Here's an encouraging hands-on from a Shacknews report on the accuracy of the Wii MotionPlus:
After a solid half-hour with the peripheral, I'm pleased—and somewhat surprised—to report that the device offers fidelity of motion unrivaled by any controller currently available on the market, so much so that I've got Jedi on the brain all over again.

Firing up a round of Wii Sports Resort's fencing game Sword Play, the Nintendo rep gave me ample time to become acquainted with the revamped motion control. Unlike what you might see in the original Wii Sports, the motion of my character's fencing foil on screen very precisely matched my own—I was encouraged to wield the Wii Remote with both hands to better get into the mood. I turned my weapon with slow and swift movements alike, manipulated it into odd angles and unusual gestures, and my character responded in kind. Solid start, but how 'bout some combat?

Frankly I don't think Nintendo needs to impress any of us with these conferences - it's basically just them letting us and the mainstream press/world know what's going on. And from what they showed, I see a lot of future money makers in their pipeline.

Most of the stuff seems to be left out of the press conference. First with Mad World and Oneechebara, then now with Dead Rising. Perhaps some of them will be announced during Space World? We haven't even heard word about the fabled Kid Icarus revival project.

Nintendo’s E3 press conference had some highlights. Overall, however, Nintendo presented a very limited number of “hardcore” games. There was no new Zelda title, barely any mention of Mario, and even the upcoming Wario Land was absent. Reggie Fils-Aime on the other hand, strongly believes that Nintendo has enough games at this year’s E3 to support the core gamer. In a brief interview on G4 following Nintendo’s media briefing, Fils-Aime explained, “How could you feel left out? The Animal Crossing that we’ve been hearing about that people wanted. Fully connected to the Internet, go to other people’s towns. Plus as I said, Grand Theft Auto on the DS. How do you feel left out with those types of announcements?”

Fils-Aime also commented about Kid Icarus for Wii, but essentially dodged the subject: “You know, we never said he was coming. We’ve all seen the rumors and all of what we see as the desires that consumers want. Make no mistake, Mr. Iwata said quite clearly: Mario teams, Zelda teams are working, they’re bringing product out for Wii this generation. We’re going to continue to bring all our best franchises to both of our key platforms and continue driving that experience both core as well as brand new consumers.”

Seriously Reggie ? I spent the moeny on the console also. I'd like to see core gamer type apps apearing. This e3 was a complete disapointment to me . 2 games does not mean your apealing to the core market.

Nintendo's E3 presentation was never meant to appeal to the core market. Pay attaention to the post-press conference announcements. Some stuff is leaking already.

hey , they should have included the core gamers instead of just mentioning us casualy and then going back to casual gamer apps .

Dead Rising wii is nice , but seriously i played that on the 360 what 2 years ago .

I'm a core gamer and thus I own more than one console , I don't want half assed ports of games i've already played . I want the big nintendo games , were's a new metriod , new zelda new something .

what about it , its from sega , no clue how it plays , it could end up another red steel.

Also since its a third party app it can apear on other platforms .

From former Clover Studios members. Also, it's a brawler, not an FPS (I don't even know why you brought up Red Steel. Did you even read the description?).

i brought up red steel cause it was a hyped up 3rd party game that would finally use the wii remote how we wanted it to be used and welll.

also clover studio members is great , but that doesn't mean it will be an amazing game . I will wait for hands on from some trusted journlists

The absence of color in Mad World is just too over the top for my tastes. IMO it would've been better if they'd use the Street Fighter 4 artstyle instead.
