After GRAW and Crytec Engine 2 this game is just a total dog in the looks department now :(

It does seem to look worse and worse as our standards get higher and higher. Still though, it's like a 50+hour RPG, 16square miles, it looks more than good enough for that type of game. The forests are really something else, seeing them sway in the wind is pretty awesome.

Yeah I feel the same. This game's art is great though, so that makes up for it a little.

You have to feel sorry for genuinely talented developers who are trying to put out an ambitious product in the face of unfinished product hype and bullshit mesmerised fan boys.

Sorry to come across as the bitter old man, but having seen the kind of unrepresentative crap that is getting people excited about the "next generation" it disgusts me to see a genuine and real attempt at something outstanding getting rubbished. Lets have a concept render accompanied by 500 words of meaningless hyperbole and get excited over that eh?

I think this is one of those games that will be way more impressive once youre walking around this fully realized environment. The game is about exploration, adventure, roleplaying, and some combat. Whatever you think about these screenshots, they are not critical as to what will make this one great or crap.

concidering everything else this game is doing and the time in development I'm surprised the graphics are as good as they are. Morrowind was great this will be even better IMO.

youd think she would be glowing like the sun, if a candle is making the mans face glow though. :p

ok ill stop nitpicking. ;)

I think room has other light (maybe window is opposite fireplace) and she is standing not so close to fire. You can see many objects have reflection of window light. So because of many light "source" I think she is ok. Maybe little bit too flat but not so much incorrect. Probably fireplace is for heat and not so much light.

I do not know wy he has so much light for his face from candle. Maybe is very large candle. I do not know. But for large light from fire type "source" his has correct appearance. Maybe for game they make little bit "exaggeration"? I do not know.

I just hope that blurryvision nonsense can be turned off.

I'd agree totally if it weren't for the E3 2005 demonstration that, while of course somewhat limited in scope, ran in realtime on a PC. Bethesda themselves pushed the expectations so high by delivering that demo. And the difference in graphics quality is not just in the dynamic shadows. E.g. there was some very high quality bump mapping on walls (parallax probably), and that just seems to be gone now.

I'm going to buy the game anyway. But yes, I'm disappointed by the cuts in graphics quality.

The actually pics of Oblivion looks very downgraded when i compare the
first Pictures from 2004,on this time the Textures looks great, the Faces and
Bumpmappingeffects too, lots of colors, and on this time the Gamedevelopners
says the game needs 3 DVD's.Today the game looks simpel and not good, low
colors, bad blurry Textures, and we cannot see the cool shadow/light effect
with bumpmapping from the older Pics, the final game needs only 1 DVD,this is not a coincidence, lot of promise but in real this was only a hype ,a big fake
marketing.

Well sure it'll be a very good and nice looking game, but those screens are from PC, not 360...

:D

I am hearing a lot of about "downgrading", but I do not see it. Scenery is awesome (check my link, trees have shadows), about interior lighting, we should see more to make any inductions. At least on x360 I can`t observe any downgrading, it is like e3 vid and it is real-time. :D
