We can all agree that if those clock speeds are correct, it's not a Tegra 4i.
There's probably something wrong with the Verge's article.
Nonetheless, models with the Tegra 4i should be announced within a few weeks during MWC.
seems that Stuff.tv has more information:

it's T4i at 1.7GHz for Latin America market. Still odd, the speed looks very low...
Tegra Note 7 getting Android 4.4.2 KitKat update OTA now, Nvidia is pretty good when it comes to updating their Android devices unlike some other companies.
we can say whatever we want regarding NV marketing but the truth is that Android support for Tegra SoCs have been stellar. Look at SHIELD for example, nearly monthly updates with nice features added and bug fixes. IMHO, they are the golden standardTegra Note 7 getting Android 4.4.2 KitKat update OTA now, Nvidia is pretty good when it comes to updating their Android devices unlike some other companies.

http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...all-new-flagship-phones-for-two-years-1225043HTC blames the lack of HTC One X and X+ updates on chip maker Nvidia. It no longer supports the Tegra 3 and is instead focusing on its newer Tegra 4 and Tegra K1 processors.
In the Android world, NV is the golden standard, like it or not.I think we have a different notion of gold standard.

What is Nexus 7 2012? Tegra 3, had KitKat upgrade months ago with drivers.
Don't believe the lies of HTC, they're a lazy bunch putting up excuses to cover their incompetence.
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_is_looking_into_updating_the_us_htc_one_x_to_android_4_4-news-7826.phpIn case you’re wondering how the Nexus 7 (2012) got KitKat with its Tegra 3 chipset, it’s because inside it is the T30L. The HTC One X and One X+ use the AP33 and AP37 respectively. It’s unclear why, but NVIDIA is supporting the T30L better than the AP3x, leading to this debacle.
Again, I don't believe HTC that lied so many times in the past regarding the updates. They always find excuses, blaming others for their incompetence.

ooooh what I just see:Yeah, it is obviously not very logical to suggest that NVIDIA "blocked" a partner from adding KitKat support. If HTC really really wanted KitKat OS support for older products (and that is debatable in the first place because it would take time and money to do it, and newer products are already designed and promoted with KitKat in mind), then they surely would have tried to work with NVIDIA to get it done.
Anyway, this type of article is nothing new. Last year there was an article about "Lack of support from Qualcomm forced HTC to pull One S Android 4.2 update": http://androidandme.com/2013/07/new...-forced-htc-to-pull-one-s-android-4-2-update/ , mainly because there was an apparent lack of additional support for the aging Snapdragon S3 chipset for the latest Android update (the S4 variant was much easier to update in comparison due to more forward-looking software support).

it's French but it says that HTC One starts to receive kitkat update in Europe
