GTX 580 gets substantial price cut

Looks like inventory clearing before Kepler comes.

Quote: 3GB models are now neck and neck with HD 7950 Radeons, at least in terms of pricing.

    http://www.fudzilla.com/home/item/26271-gtx-580-gets-substantial-price-cut

GTX580 prices were reduced by €40-€70 down to a low of €339.

US prices at Newegg are still in $400 with a low of $435 after rebate. I expect we will see US prices fall soon.

Chip size comparison between (supposed) GK104 and what I'm guessing is G92b.

    Source (translated). They estimate about 17.2 mm x 17.2 mm ≈ 300 mm^2.

Seems a little off to me. Just fiddling a bit with that picture, that alledged GK104 is almost perfectly congruent with a G92a. Maybe just a tad smaller. Should be nearer to 330mm² then.

Would be pretty amazing if it launched now. I'm planning on building a new PC in early-mid April, so as long as the volumes aren't too abysmally small...

Launch implies reviews. If we're lucky there could still be an architecture overview like we got with GCN long before it launched.

He didn't define "paper launch", though - probably because he just isn't entirely sure himself.

Personally, I was under the impression that NVidia "just" organizes an NDA event for reviewers today. Maybe they'll hand around some papers, maybe they'll even use that occasion to distribute some cards to reviewers.

In any case, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to have a press event AFTER reviews are practically finished ... so I personally don't expect any real reviews today. Maybe some "official" benchmarks done by NVidia.

If Anand doesn't have something up by 9:00am EST I'm going to assume its a wash for today.

I was referring to Charlie's article indeed. Sorry for not being clear.

You got that people? The event will be exclusive, so don't you dare charge any money for milk and cheese, OK?

I wonder is the Swedish "branch" of Scan Computers International will be used in the launch (lunch;), I have conveniently included a google translate link for you none Swedish people.

I'm a bit ashamed to post this as my first post on the board but the opportunity was there and I know some people like to associate Nvidia with what I posted. So just take it for what it is, a bit of a laugh and yes I know the two companies got nothing to do with each other.

Fudzilla says GTX 670 Ti was a pre-production GTX 680 with lower performance: http://fudzilla.com/home/item/26289-nvidias-upcoming-card-is-gtx-680

According to RedQuasar 670 Ti was 95% of 7950 and a newer BIOS (the 680 BIOS?) added 40% of performance. Also they said 670Ti had same SP number as 680.

This 40% speed bump would put GTX 680 ~10% over 7970, which was rumored by AIB sources at Cebit.
