NVIDIA GF100 & Friends speculation

the 2GB variant of the HD5870 should be ~20% faster with this settings, therefore it will be, most likely a draw in the reviews.

That is 3 monitor performance. Most reviews are done with one. The RAM could still help in high resolutions though.

Far Cry 2 .. GTX 470 :40 FPS , HD5870 :

That's some pretty high settings - I guess the 5870 is lacking the extra 256mb memory here - could also seem like it from the min framerates..

edit: page only says 4x0, so could also be 512 mb more...

The 11,78/21,45/1,72 FPS min framerate clearly shows memory/hdd swaping compared to the gtx470 26/29,95/29,74.

Maybe even something different....cheating. The additional posters accuse gdphk (??) that he cheated. See: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=148629

Desperate enough to edit the pictures to make a card look better.....I also saw the original pictures and one was set in ultra mode(HD5870) and the other run was in optimal mode, with some settings at high(supposedly the GTX480).

Personally, I doubt if nv will launch a castrated top dog after feeding so much info about it to public. They'll sell 5 480's if they have to, but AFAICS a 512 ALU gpu should ship.

Why not? We know that Nvidia's standard operating procedure is that if they say something often enough and loud enough, people will believe it.

And I'm not sure if you can get away with calling 480 a shipping product if you only sell a handful of specially prepared and handpicked units that are gone from the market straight away.

Asuka talked about GTX470 again, but no benchmark numbers because of NDA.

GTX470 is slower than HD5870 in DiRT2 and STALKER COP
1920X1200 GTX470 is 10% slower than HD5870 1GB
2560X1600 GTX470 is as fast as HD5870 1GB
GTX470 TDP is much lower than 300W,but significantly hotter than HD5870

Google says: There will be no problem with the availibility and that GTX470 "is still a small margin behind the 5870" in Stalker and Dirt:2.*

The GTX470 has less "procession power" than a 4870. And only 42% of the 5870... :runaway:

High-end graphics card market is extremely small in China, plenty cards in China don't mean there is plenty cards all over the World.

Asuka has posted DIRT2 benchmark numbers,GTX 470 is about 20% slower than HD5870 at 19X12 8XAA.
He just choosed words to make GTX470 sound better because he is a Nvdia fan,you can judge by youself through the last few lines of his post.

The benchmark is true, but not sure it's a good sign to NV after 6 month of delay, unless they hide the performance in current beta driver :???:

so more or less the GTX470 and the 5870 are about equal.. that is certainly much better than what many had anticipated and really isn't all that bad given all that is to be considered.. faster in NV friendly - TWIMTPB apps/games (as to be expected) and slower in those that favor ATI. If NV can deliver at a competitive price, then I wouldn't say it's all that bad.. hardly worth 6 month wait just to be on par but hey.. take what you can get (PRICE WARS !!! ).. the GTX480.. I'm still holding out hopes for a significant memory clock increase over the GTX470 (after all nearly 30% more wattage has to account for something more than simply 32-64 extra "Cuda Cores"). Ideally I'd love to think NV has been sandbagging us all and BOOM.... 666 Mhz Core 1100 Mem ;-)
