NV40 supports 3Dc

Aren't they open for everyone to implement so they can become 'ext' and then 'arb'?
Not all of them. NVidia has alot labeled as "NVIDIA Proprietary". Interestingly enough, their version 2 fragment program extension and version 3 vertex program extension (both introduced with the NV40) doesn't say that.

OK. What proprietary 'nv' extensions is Nalu demo using then? :)

sort of off subject, but wow, isn't this interesting, saw this on nvnews

if you copy this over the file in the humus demo, dxt5 runs with the same IQ as 3DC (no artifacts). So apparently in the humus demo at least, you could get the same image quality from dxt5 compared to 3dc. Apparently humus messed up the dxt5 compression.

This was discussed shortly after I released the 3Dc demo, and yes, that texture was screwed up. The texconv.exe file in the DX9 SDK I used back then produced a bad texture for this bumpmap. Later versions of texconv produced a much better texture though. I thought I had updated the file on my server though, but it appears I forgot to do that or screwed up in some way because now that I checked it was still the old file. But I've updated the file now.
