NPD October 2016 Sales Results (As they become available)

There's listings for them for $400 on ebay so not really shocking.

Nintendo has said they will have a steady flow coming to retail though the holiday.

Did NPD make a statement about how these will be tracked? I seem to vaguely remember they did...and that memory seems to be that it wont be tracked as a console?
It's not a console. The software is fixed. It's a toy.
I wonder what Nintendo is thinking about all this. This is the only thing they've got that sells like crazy...
You think it's going to sell like crazy for the next five weeks? And with profits enough to offset the fact there's no after-sales content sales? It's a nice little Christmas boost to Nintendo's coffers, but it's a financial flash-in-the-pan. It'll sell a few on nostalgia and then be forgotten. If Nintendo's strategy becomes based on this, they release SNRS Classic next year, and then...GC Classic. And finally Wii Classic? If anything this could be bad for Nintendo, encouraging them to stay living in the past.

I think it's sell like crazy for much longer than 5 weeks. And don't forget, they're going to make a bundle on peripherals with those 3ft long wired controllers, but extension cables, and wireless controllers available.

In terms of living off the past, the Switch looks like it's quite relevant in today's world, it hits a lot of right notes, and I think it will do really well.

Notes:
- “Unit sales for the Xbox One brand of hardware grew by 8 percent compared to last October,” said Naji. “Average pricing for the Xbox One hardware fell by 17 percent due primarily to the release of the lower-priced 500GB Xbox One S Minecraft Bundle.”
- “The 3DS experienced its fifth straight month of year-on-year growth,” said Naji. “Both unit sales and consumer spending for October grew 12 percent as average pricing was flat year on year. It is likely that continued consumer interest in the Pokémon franchise and Monster Hunter: Generations has driven this growth.”
- “The PS4 Slim 500 GB Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End bundle was the month’s best-selling hardware across the category, accounting for 17 percent of total hardware units sold in the month,” said Naji. [Note: As an individual SKU. Xbox Ones sold more overall, but split between more bundles.

So digital share could be over 30% now. And these "play early" $99 editions are selling well and causing an increase in digital share.

We can work out Xbox One hardware sales. Last year's 303k in Oct X1.08~327k.
