No Man's Sky [PS4, PS5, XO, XBSX|S, PC, NX, XGP]

played it for almost 8 hours today, the game is HUGE ! Can't even imagine making it to the centre of the universe as of now ! I still don't know how I would do it, cost stuff costs money and a jump to the next solar system warrants exploration. Thankfully, I found a planet which I named HellKnight because of the extreme heat during daytime and the storms that take th etemp to 120 dgrees Celsius , but I love this planet ! It feels interstellar real :D ! And the planet themselves are planets, too big. At one point I literally had to eject to space and fly around anf come back in to the atmosphere to reach a marker, there would have been no way to reach that from within the planet, would have taken, I don't know, hours maybe !

Still haven't wrapped my head around it all. I can see the gameplay cycles repeating but I can't fathom making riches out of what I am doing currently so I am guessing the game will bring more mechanics in cos I cannot fathom making it to th ecentre by farming minerals, no siree !

Oh, and apparently I did a broadcast but forgot, its uncut ewhatever I was doing as I didn't evenknow I was broadcasting my gameplay, but that means it shows true gameplay:
Edit: Nevermind, the quality is so bad u won't see anything -_-

Its an exploration game out and out but somehow I am just glued to it !

Promising stuff! I still wonder about the longevity of the game but equally there are plenty of games I play regularly (Fallout 4, Witcher 3, GTA V) where I can play for hours yet enjoy thoroughly and achieve nothing. NMS looks ideally suited to play without purpose. I love games like this, where I can just amble "over there" to see what's there. In most games there are bounds to this but in NMS the bounds are effectively limitless and infinitely variable. I also doubt I'll ever reach the centre of the universe, I can't help myself exploring interesting-looking diversions.

Roll on the weekend.

once you leave a system you cannot go back ?
Oh you can, bbut they are so far away, so each jump to a different solar system requires a Warp Cell, which needs to be crafted. Its rare, as of now for me, and frankly the game hasn't shown me how I could make it common, cos the progress of my character is not supernatural so I don't see myself rolling in Warp Cells. Which means, currently at least, that its best you don't go back to a previously visited solar system simply cos u could move forward at the same expense and the expense is high !

Got more used to the game now, made a whole tunnel into a planet cos it had a ton of carbon so i didn't have to worry about running out of gun energy. The tunnel I was making joined into a natural one and then I merged out on th esurface :) ! Little tihngs but its so fun cos I never get to do such stuff in other games. Maybe minecraft lets u do all that, but this is space, real planets !

I have to say the "ëxplorable" objects have been limited till now. I am very curious what or how or when the game brings new stuff. It already shows me two branches of space travel which go opposite ways. I wonder when I will make significant progress towards the centre. I am so damn curious as to how the hell can I make significant money in this game.

I am also not sure of th elongevity, I do not get it yet, as to how this trivial farming can get me any significantly closer to the centre.

BTW, had a space fight and it was fun ! I was scared to hell, but turned out the pdds aren't that bad and u get resources fro it too, maybe I should turn a full time pirate or police and see what kindof money lies there !

can you dig to the center of a planet ?
Could not in my two attempts. Found water in one and a hard surface in another and started widening it and ended up in a natural cave/tunnel system.
I am guessing u can't. And honestly it would take years even if the game let u, it's pretty much a real planet.l in size at least. The variety is limited to a few structures and flora but the size is a planet size.

The interviews said there were branching story paths chosen early in the game, do we know when we reach a permanent branching point? Is it indicated?

Right when the game started (like 30 seconds), I refused to follow the "red orb atlas", I didn't like it's attitude, but it never reappeared. Not sure if that's a tutorial I refused, or I just made a story branching right there. It looked important. I barely played an hour, should I restart? If that's branching, I'll take more time to decide.

Wow you can dig down and you found a cave system? Getting more and more intrigued by how much they've implemented in this game. This might be a relaxing couch game for over steam streaming.

From gaf, a lovely looking dead planet

I should maybe stop watching screenshots and videos while waiting for the game to unlock on steam :p

if the graphics looked near photorealistic. But instead we get a cartoonish world.
Yes how dare they not make a universe planetary simulation and not make it with near photorealistic graphics, OK yes I know 99+% of existing games don't even manage this even though they operate on a small handcrafted section of a small island of a small world , but come on surely its not too much to ask for a near photorealistic simulation of the universe

Lol it's not a terrible thing to look. You may never ever see it playing the game.

All a players may never take a screenshot of everything.

Nobody dug s hole to the cave and scare the land animals into the cave. Then see they fight each other or not?

Yes, exactly. How dare they come up with a brilliant concept and instead of using near photorealistic graphics, they make their game look like a cartoon. That ruins the game for me. The push for every single game to be stylized is getting ridiculous.

Won't spoil from now on, but the sci fi landscapes this game generates are mind blowing ! I haven't even posted a single from my favourite HellKnight planet yet :D

Those images look like they could have been rendered by the PS3. The landscapes in Crysis on PS3 looked more detailed and realistic. This game is either massively CPU bound or the developers wanted to go stylized to minimize costs.

I did see one with a jaguar like face chasing another. In true Far Cry style I killed the predator. At least I thought it was the predator chasing a prey, I could be wrong and too swift in delivering justice. Will chk on the next planet.
