Unigine Heaven with Direct3D 11 shows the much stronger performance there over OpenGL on Windows. But with all tested cards at least the OpenGL Windows vs. Linux performance was similar on both NVIDIA and AMD.

Looks to me like drivers of Kepler cards were not optimized for the game.
The 770 falls exactly where expected close to the 280/X.
That explains why most engines always have worse DX12 fps than DX11. None of them can optimize DX12 well because of these mentioned obscure elements. DX12 usually uses more VRAM too.http://asawicki.info/news_1701_thoughts_on_graphics_apis_and_libraries.html
Everchanging hardware and "low level" api ? Might be recipe for a mess.
