What new game price?

They can't get away with higher prices than this gen.

Haven't sales been lower the past year?

It seems game prices are dropping not too far after release.

Depends on their business model. I have no concrete idea yet. That's why we need Sony to elaborate.

They have other stuf they can "announce".

4K support, now that they presented a $700 player at NAB it's obvious that they could present the PS4 as a 4K player, Console and everything else machine for only 399,- and HDMI 2.0 (super deep color? :))

Not as big as Blu-Ray nor important but still something that would sell to the avs crowd.

They didn't really reveal a lot about the controller, there is more to be had there.

PS++? Final specs? Final look? Price? Digital Market for used Digital Purchases? PS1+PS2 BC :)

So far i am satisfied, price doesn't matter that much to me. I just need Microsoft to step up to the plate and not do anything stupid so i can get a 720 from launch, perfect console year!

The 4K player in question:
" it will cost $699 when it becomes available this summer. The player will come bundled with 10 feature films, including The Amazing Spider-Man, Taxi Driver, Total Recall (the 2012 version) and The Bridge on the River Kwai. This fall, Sony promises that it will have its own fee-based distribution service for 4K films."

And TV's to match:
"The XBR-55X90A (55-inch) and the XBR-65X900A (65-inch) will retail for $4,999 and $6,999, respectively, beginning April 21."

The ultimate in Quality and the Ultimate DRM lock down on movies.

Well the DRM won't be any different than what is used now, that is after they crack it.

But they would need a disc format of some kind because when people run out of space on the hard drive, they stop buying movies.

With the way they are doing it now they are loading movies on the customers servers, the $699 device most likely have a big harddrive with space for enough movies to support a moving window of releases and movies that "run out". On the PS4 you would just have to pick your movies from the current window.

I heard you have to give two DNA samples in order to even boot Orbis. To play a game requires yet another sample.

I received a PM from an insider, and He all but confirmed this. I can't reveal who He is, but He's trustworthy. Launch price will be $475.32 ad-subsidized, $541.28 with a 3-year meal contract or $261.98 if you buy it outright and swear to never tell another lie. Once you've given your blood samples, the console can never be turned off unless you sacrifice to Him your first born son. PSN will offer a chat-roulette type service that cannot be disabled, and if you try to unplug the camera you will be electrocuted by Sony engineers who will monitor and record all of the video feeds. There is a special piece of silicon no one has mentioned yet, which is the world's finest audio block for analog-to-digital conversion, that will allow you to rip vinyl records (45s, LPs and 78s) or eight-track tapes using a special peripheral that will be sold separately for $145.99.

I've received no PM from any insider but after reading Brit comment I really hope the new ps4 is damned hot so it helps keeping the "refractory" period as low as possible...

There's also another secret, custom, IP block, that uses the PS4 Eye to stereoscopically digitize the user(s) and transfer them directly onto the game grid, to match off against enemy AI agents directed by the PS4 console's hypervisor software layer (Master Control Program.)

Mostly likely only HDMI 1.4, especially considering the X900As (their new 4k TVs) seem to be 1.4 based on the maximum supported input resolutions (UHD @ 24, 25, and 30 fps).

I was really hoping for HDMI 2.0 and Ultra Star Dust UHD, though.

If you can afford a 4K TV in the next 3 years, I would assume a) you have an internet connection fast enough to stream movies and b) running out of space isn't the reason you stop buying movies.

The enthusiast will pay for the fast connections and build a media server to feed some big, expensive projector.

But I think Sony and others want the 4K gear to be eventually bought by everyone who cares enough to get Blu-Rays these days. Anyways, expiring movies and running out of space isn't going to go over too well for people who now pick up a Blu-Ray on sale for $10 at Best Buy.

When we get to 4k everything will be cheaper, and the movies will be compressed enough to fit on br.

It looks like their 4K movie download service will only work in a Sony-only environment (Sony player -> Sony TV).

4K Blu-ray has not been finalized yet right ?

For PS4, I think the low hanging fruit is to upscale 1080p to 4K. Perhaps it will play 4K Blu-ray when the specs is finalized (like how PS3 jumpstarted 1080p BR).

I don't see anyone really jumping for a 4K Bluray format, likely because its going to require new hardware, more discs, and actually convincing people to buy bigger TVs. It took 9 years to go from DVD (1997) to Bluray (2006), and there we already plenty of HD TV sets out there. It's too soon for something newer.

The uptake for blu-ray hasn't been anywhere near DVD either. There's no reason to expect that people are eager for a new format. TV manufacturers may be eager to push one, but I doubt it's anything more than a novelty for the next 10 years.

PS4 might support it, but it's unlikely to move many units because of its existence.

That's what people were saying about 1080p when the PS3 came out too.

No content, too expensive, consumers won't care, won't matter unless you have a huge screen.

But now, they're putting 1080p in phones.

I'm not saying 4k will displace 1080p but I wouldn't rule it out completely either.

That said, I'd wait a couple of years to see if there is content released in 4k. Second or third gen displays are likely to be much better as well as cheaper. Maybe also a display tech other than plasma or LCD may make an appearance.

Yeah, Retina PCs and Macs are heading there as we speak.

I suspect besides straight 4K playback, the vendors will probably try to play up interactivity + 1080p playback this time round.

4K content seems like an incremental update.

4K is the next natural step, even it's a incremental step that many wont really get the maximum benefit from, with small screens, distance to screen and all the other usual counterarguments about resolution.
4K simply has the advantage of being the "new" kid on the block and if the content owners can sell a 4K movie for more than a Blu-Ray they would of course try to push it.

With a download only service they have the extra benefit of keeping their investment in producing discs to Zero. If it catches on it should be fairly easy to build a 4K blu-ray that Sony can support.

Best part is, that sony doesn't need to bet the farm on a new disc technology, and there is no hidef war.

Patsu, yes currently it's a sony only thing, but it should be fairly easy to open it up to other 4k tv's.

Have they spoke about PSN pricing scheme already ? Would be great if you could throw me a link.
Nope. I just have an amazing source, which I think is the same source most other rumour mongers are using. The voices in one's head certainly make sense, so I trust them completely.

That's why I can never listen to the radio... It's just a voice in your head.
