Yeah, a lot of these HTML5 extensions are seldom used. I think Sony can do better though. e.g., According to the list, date input is not supported. I don't know if that's correct.

In addition, while the test shows that WebGL is not supported by the web browser, the technology is built into the System UI itself: http://news.softpedia.com/news/The-...bGL-a-Web-3D-Graphics-Technology-400937.shtml

It seems that the Dynamic Menu runs a specialized copy of WebKit that is different from the slower web browser.

Does anyone here has CoD: Ghosts for the PS4? I ask 'cos I'd love to know if it features 3D stereoscopic support. I am not cancelling my pre-order but I am very curious to know...

This news says Sony ears 100$ per PS4 system sold.

I don't think that's the case because of the GPU-memory, especially, which have to be quite expensive, and I heard more than once that the PS4 is sold at a very slight loss, it's almost even iirc.

They are supposedly selling it $60 loss per box. THe news which said the parts cost only 299$ aren't factoring in years of development, software costs, marketing, etc. That news is meaningless.

The official line from Sony is that the system is profitable at 399€ in Europe, and at US$399 in the USA it is profitable "from the moment users buy PlayStation Plus subscriptions and games".
They denied the $60 loss figure when presented with it by Eurogamer.

My spotless laptop (and fan) easily reaches 99º if you play The Witcher 2, Skyrim or Dragon Age on it.
We're not talking a laptop though, nor tablet, with everything crammed in. I don't recall any console that was ever warm to the touch on top. But then I also recognise my conversion (which was just a look, not a calculation) was off by a lot. I was thinking it was more like 60 degrees than 40. Actual temperature is only as much as a PSU, say, so not really an issue.

Umm, you just verified that the PS4 hardware is selling at a loss. It only becomes profitable once people buy games and PS+.

In other words, traditional game console economics of selling the hardware at a loss to increase install base to generate greater software and accessory sales which is what actually generates profit. Nintendo is the only console maker that focuses on making a profit off the hardware from day 1.

For the console hardware makers every 3rd party game sold is pure profit regardless of whether it makes or loses money for its publisher. The only problems come in with 1st party games where an underperforming title can actually hurt your profit generation.

So exactly how do you calculate the loss per box then if you count non recurring costs?

It was 3 by the end of the year, and 5 mil by March.

It was Andrew House who came up with the 5 million sales wasn't it? I did have my doubts but looking at the sales now I think they might hit that quite comfortably.

1 mil in 24 hours it's great.
EU is PS stronghold so imagine it will sell even more in EU.

I feel sorry for the WiiU now.
MS and Sony are going to rule Christmas.

They have to be able to produce demanding amount of consoles. To sell 5 mil you need to produce it :) Let's hope they will manage to cover demand!
