Why does everyone hate buttons... how can Surface RT have more long term value than a Vita? Especially for gaming? That's just... wrong. Lol.

I want this generation to start already... so we can see just how little touchscreens will contribute to the experience of a console game. Or a PC game for that matter.

The only thing I think would be cool is looking at a map. I wouldn't mind playing PlanetSide 2 and using my phone to locate myself and the current territory control and finding my squad and such. It would be mostly a gimmicky feature... it would be kind of cool I guess. I think it would still be faster to just press the Map button though haha.

Microsoft has already said it's supporting the Surface RT hardware for 4 years. Sony has not. Even if the RT sells zero more units, it will still get support. Sony when they are still losing money? Ha, yeah right. They have FAR more bet on the PS4 dragging the PSVita to relevance than Microsoft does with RT (an app developer never has to think of Windows RT when making a Windows 8 Metro app, it just happens to work).

Honestly I think Sony would have called quits on Vita even before it launched if there was no remote play.

I really love my Vita, but when I have time to play something I have my PC around so I just stick to that mostly. Also my 8 GB memory card isn't cutting it... I need to replace it with a 32 asap... but the price is just too high :(

The prices of those cards is practically criminal. This is the OLD Sony that I could do without. We will probably see a Vita price drop before a drop for those infernal memory cards since the margins on that bit of plastic and memory must be astounding !!

It's a Sony business decision and it's keeping me away from the vita :)

I'm also disappointment that they can't do better with the memory cards. The speed is a bigger disappointment than the size.

However, I do at least appreciate that unlike my iPad (16GB), I can replace the memory card with a larger sized one. hat certainly helps with the longevity of the system. And however expensive you feel that 32GB card is, it's still cheaper than the price difference between the 16GB and 32GB iPad models.

But I'd still be very happy to see a cheaper version, and would forgive Sony a Vita redesign where they revert to the more regular SD cards they've also started using in their cameras.

Dunno about you, but I'm not inclined to be more lenient towards a criminal just because they are less criminal than someone else. Price gouging on extra storage is pretty underhand even if standard business practice.

I'm just describing my experience as an iPad 3 and a Vita owner. I don't have any other handheld devices.

The price of the memory cards is pathetic, they should be much less expensive. I am actually surprised Sony has priced them as high as they have. With the PS3 you can swap out hard drives, same with PS4, the controllers for both also use standard USB interface to charge.

Not sure why they are gouging consumers for the memory cards when they have really been fairly pro-consumer lately everywhere else.....

I'm of the firm belief it is largely a concession made to retailers who would not want to stock a device where they could be bypassed for all game purchases. It's the same reason the PSP Go was so expensive. Sony had to create a high margin incentive to get them on store shelves.

It might be, that's very possible.

But seriously for $90 or $100, they really should be at least offering a 64 GB version...

I really can't even decide whether I should wait for a 64 GB one, or just buy a 32 GB one when it reaches $60 or $70.

The trouble is with only my 8 GB card, I am using my Vita much less than I could be. I can't fit all the games I want to play at once. Uncharted GA and Final Fantasy VII take up almost all the space right away lol, so I only have space for some small PS1 and Vita games.

I actually planned to wait a few months, maybe well into next year, before buying a PS4 - but if they offer a PS4/Vita bundle for 500 Euros, I'll probably buy that as soon as it is available.
I am planning on buying the PS4 by 2015/2016 or so and that would be the bundle I'd want to purchase, because I have been always interested in the Vita. Aside from that, PS4 is going to be a success, or so it seems and a bundle like that would help to immensely boost Vita sales in the long run.

Additionally, Housemarque, the developers behind Super Stardust HD say they love PS4's architecture and power.

except those online passes on 1st party games?

i get the feeling most of sony's policies are just a reaction to whatever ms does to pander to public opinion (some app is behind paywall on Xbox is the internet faux rage of the day? we'll conveniently announce ours isn't via twitter on the exact same day!). not a flattering picture of a company that knows what they're doing imo.

Or, you know, they're just reaffirming previously announced policies when they are suddenly inundated with questions related to Xbox disclosures.

Late October always felt totally possible, but I think it's a bit silly the way people have gotten caught up trying to relate launch dates with big 3rd party releases. There are big games coming out every week from Mid-October until Thanksgiving. The platform holders can't wait until they've all come out. Nor can we expect them to play favorites.

i wish sony reactional to everything. MS announce that X1 gamepad will works on PC on 2014. @yosp not announce anything for ps4 dualshock4 :/

I know it's disappointing and developers are human, but I dunno about taking this to Twitter or other public venue. You still have to work with these people and their multibillion dollar initiatives after pissing on their efforts, as do the multimillion/billion dollar organizations that decide if they feel like employing you.

It's the curse or blessing of the move to social media. You get to directly interact with your clients without a PRBS filter being applied.

Still it must be disconcerting for MS to have such a AAA multi-platform developer directly criticise their decisions. Even if it is a few disaffected staffers.
