schwing ^__^

there are yet more new/newer images of Zelda on Jeux-France.
note: the newer screens *are* mixed in with a few older ones.

even if not technically that impressive, the new Zelda is looking wonderful overall. not because the graphics are so great (they have their moments) but because the art is good and the style seems just right, and hopefully the gameplay, will just SHINE.
But the animation sucks compared to The Wind Waker.

And you know this how?

Because I've seen the trailers, and with nearly a year of extra development and the claim that the game was "done", there was no improvement from the first trailer to the second. They even reversed the sword sheething video clip from the end of the first trailer (which looked bad to begin with) and tried to use it as an unsheething animation in the second trailer.

Since when are trailers more representative than actual gameplay?

It's called a work in progress... Comparing that to a finished product is useless.

From early on, even though the art direction was constantly under revision, the preview movies and trailers for The Wind Waker were indicative of the quality of animation in the final game. This new Zelda was supposedly built on the same game engine, so even though the art style is different, I'd assume the workflow for its development was similar, and the animation would be nailed down just as early. Besides that, a Nintendo rep was quoted as saying the game was "complete" a few weeks before the GDC trailer was shown. Signs are pointing to the game not having the imaginative flourishes and subtleties in the animation that were present in The Wind Waker.

Different games have different parts of the engine refined at different times.

BTW Nintendo never said the new Zelda was finished, that was a misquote. They said the story was finished.
