New PS4 industrial design concept

Here's another angular timeless design done right by for Microsoft.

Another one with curves.

Ipod looks like crap compared to those designs.

Well, just goes to prove that some people have no taste then... :) Apple's one of the world's largest tech companies and their success hinges largely on their design style, so obviously they're getting stuff right there.

The Zune you drool all over looks like a piece of crap to me, the colors are boring and the lines uninspired and unimaginative. It looks like something a mindless suit-wearing corporate drone would want to have, not what (mentally) young Apple* people desire. I've seen cigarette cases more tasteful than that shit tbh, and I hate anything smoking-related.

Of course, the Zune crashed and burned badly, which just goes to show how incompetent Microsoft typically is in the consumer space - Xbox nonwithstanding, but only because they dug out and threw literally billions of dollars at their failure out of their Windows and Office coffers before it started making a profit. Any reasonable company would have cut that bleeding ulcer from their corporate body long before then...

* Inserted to antagonize you. ;)

Rudecurve calling someone else a troll, thats pretty funny.

Pretty much this, wet dreams of fanboys. At least they got it right that they'll probably ripoff nintendos new controller in some way.

Well didnt Nintendo "ripoff" motion control, 3D from Sony?. I doubt we'l see a PS4 for a few years. The Yen continues to build in strength. I think Sony will continue to expand the PS3 feature set. With the new ones being Vita-PS3 compatibility and new browser, redesigned store, in game talk etc. I think they'l be conservative until the US gets up off it's knees. Gamescom should more or less give us the picture.

Who said they did?. My point was Nintendo and bandwagon jumping. In this case they likely wont get away with tech that's in effect "broken" unlike motion gaming.

You suggested they ripped off motion controls and 3D from Sony, neither of those things were invented by Sony. Therefore, Sony also ripped them off.

At this point in time almost every company is a ripoff artist (Sony and Nintendo are certainly no exceptions). Companies try to incorporate good ideas into their products, it's just good sense.

They (Everyone) *should* try to incorpoprate touchscreen into home consoles one way or another. ^_^

Nintendo has their own vision for 3D gaming (e.g., for GameCube). 3DS is yet another attempt. Sony has grander vision for 3D everything. That's why they are in it.

.. secretly I hope for a robot stand with holographic display. :runaway:

EDIT:
Remember that Move + Stand/Dock + portable device patent ?
It would make sense if that Stand is mobile like Aibo. Waving the silly looking Move controllers in front of a robo-doggie is much more appealing than a motionless stand. That is if Sony is interested to expand their offerings instead of doing piecemeal systems all the time. :devilish:

Incidentally...
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/07/sony-patents-interactive-doll-ps3-psp/

The patent, filed by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe back in 2008 was recently published, and it shows an interesting looking doll that resembles some sort of teddy bear with a bit of Troll doll hair. The toy is supposed to be made up of a storage medium reader, a media content player, a wireless receiver and a processor. The “doll” will be able to move its limbs on its own, can sense human touch, light levels, has image and voice recognition, and a refillable reservoir for storing liquid that it can release when needed (i.e. to generate tears).

The doll is said to work with the PlayStation and PSP though it wasn’t mentioned how it will interact with the console. Fun for kids? Or another toy where nightmares stem from? I guess we’ll just have to see if Sony ever releases a doll like this.

I checked out the patent briefly. It explicitly mentioned using PS3 to control interactive toys. Said toy doesn't have to be a physical entity. It could also be a virtual character.

The invention is for the toy to report its capabilities, DRM, parental control, personality, etc. to PS3 so that the console knows how to interact with the toy wirelessly.
