Nintendo needs all the help it can get to create new games for their home consoles, which have been hit with game droughts more consistently than Xbox or PS2. This is a step in the right direction IMO. I hope this new team does some great things.

How come nintendo keeps creating tons of these little development houses, but at best we see one game out of them and never hear from them again? It's also disappointing that it seems like 80% of nintendo's efforts go towards the GBA, leaving only a few offerings from EAD, Hal, NST, and whoever else decides to poke their nose in the door for a second.

They don't really focus their energies on the GBA. It's probably more like 60/40 in favor of GCN, or better.

EAD has a hand in a pile of games for the 'Cube, but probably only a handful of new GBA games. (not ports)

Nintendo's R&D1 and Intelligent Systems handle a lot of the new software for GBA. Mario & Luigi RPG is by Alpha Dream. Golden Sun is by Camelot. I don't know who ports the SNES classics, but it doesn't make much of a difference.

Nintendo's biggest franchise on the GBA is Pokemon.. done by Game Freak.

Are they supported by Yamauchis fund or are they are a Nimtendo studio?

They are a completely new Nintendo internally developed studio. Many senior members transferring over from EAD, 20-25 members consisting of new blood. College grads., former various ex-studio employees, etc. Said to be focusing on more mature subject content. Funded primarily by the sale of Rare. I hope the mature theme rumor is indeed correct.

Well, sounds very interesting. A composition ofexperience and fresh blood, maybe they can come up with some fresh content. They'll probably start developing for next-gen already...
