New Heavenly Sword Info (screens included)

Wasn't there an ongoing diary on the Edge magazine of the birth of Ninja Theory and Heavenly Sword a year or so ago that spanned several months.
I'll have to dig up those issues and read them, I'm sure there's a lot of interesting info.

Of the demo. Very impressive, can't wait to get my hands on the final game.
This game wasn't on my "day one purchase list" previously when my opinion was based on screenshots and videos only, but the demo, while way too short, has changed my mind.

First of all GREAT DEMO!!
It looks fantastic and plays even better.

I actually introduced this demo to a bunch of people at work here today, and they all seemed really impressed. One of the guys I worked with said, "OK, I'm going to have to get a PS3 now!"

I'm not sure if this has been discussed here, but I was wondering if this demo is in fact the TGS demo from last year that didn't make it because of a fatal bug? I remember DeanoC(?) talking about slaving away on a demo only to have it cancelled the day before the show, but specifically stating that it would get used at some time.

Anyway, just curious.

Again awesome demo! I can't wait for the official release :D

The latest 1up show is pretty positive on the demo as well. Shane also mentioned earlier that the build he has played (with the first few levels) was much newer and hardly had any slowdown, much smoother than the demo.

I have the impression that despite what Kotaku is suggesting in that video, HS wasnt meant for XBOX. Atleast from the 2004 footage and after.

Perhaps DeanoC can clarify on this but I think I remember reading in their site that HS was meant as a next generation game from the beginning. They started development of the game in 2003 if I recall because they believed that in order to have something ready for the next generation (AI, animation, physics etc) they had to start early.

Also the 2004 footage which kotaku claims was an XBOX exclusive , it wasnt even running on an XBOX. It was running on a very very high end computer to demonstrate it on expected next generation hardware. No way XBOX could do such graphics.
HS was never meant to go to XBOX, it was designed for next gen from the start

Nope the 'TGS' demo would morph (its been polished a lot but the basic structure stayed the same as the demo) into the section called WarMachines, from the clips around its the one where she has a bazooka and its fighting an army in a desert.

And thankfully the bug is well gone :D

:D Beautiful ! Although I'm still trying to figure out my play style. Most challenging is "How to block". Someone should write a guide or something so that I can "get it" within 5 minutes.

Here's a wallpaper someone on GAF created from it:

Patsu, the wallpaper was by the Ninja Theory team, it's on their official forums, they have made quite a few nice wallpapers, all now sitting on my ps3. :D

I now this. But even when i show your quote, xbots say that you have been paid for this words with Sony.
Please help me. How could i prove that HS was never developed for xbox.

Is it really important now?

I mean the game is out on the PS3 and not xbox! ;)

For me it is not important. But they say that HS is port from X1, and show 2004 footage.

lol. Go onto the Ninja Theory website - dig up Tameems diary entries and you will find a lot of comments stating the game was always meant to be a nextgen game - that they turned down publishers who wanted it to be on current systems (xbox/ps2) - that it was such an ambitious next gen game, that lots of publishers didn't think it was possible... Go on...have a browse :)

You do realize you just had the Lead Programmer say "HS was never meant to go to XBOX, it was designed for next gen from the start" a few posts up, and that they've had developer diaries out for ages which have said the same thing? Just who else are you going to believe?

Considering the length of time it takes to develop games of this caliber, if they were NOT showing around concept footage in 2004 to try to drum up interest (and with it, teh moneys!), they would be foolish indeed. It has no bearing on target platform.

please fix tearing ,frame drops ... i hate it in God of War ... if this problems are in final game i dont buy it ... performance issues = unplayable (me) ... I dont want to see performance issues in first party games!

sorry for EN

DeanoC,

Looking back at the development of Heavenly Sword and everything you have learned about the Playstation 3 do you believe if a sequel is made that the hardware can be pushed significantly further? For example, what do you think about the animation, physics, graphics, particle effects, lighting, etc? Which of these areas do you think are likely to be pushed ahead in a potential sequel?
