E73 ... bad timing with the holidays.

Guess I'll be seing all your Xbox guys after the holidays! My vacation starts next week too!

Buy a new one. Use it until this one is fixed. Then return the new one. Don't wrong me on borderlands, Scott!

Damn ... not covered under warranty. Why couldn't that be a 74?! $100. Now to decide whether I just buy a new one or deal with the $100.

I should take a heat gun to it and make it a RROD

$100 refurb or $200 with new warranty and maybe a more reliable unit?

My unit is weird. I have a 175watt supply, which suggests Falcon, but the 12V rail is rated for 16.5A which suggests Zephyr.

I'll see if the guys I go to for pcb rework at work will do some x-rays for me.

Replaced. I figured I wanted to get a new controller anyway, so for a little bit extra I got a brand new unit with a new warranty.

Was it a Jasper?

Edit: never mind, see your info. Anyways, I was wondering because I'm coming to the conclusion Jaspers are very reliable (RROD basically a solved issue with them).

I recently bought a new Elite, and one thing that bugs me is it seems to have an undue amount of vibration caused by the DVD drive. Just to the touch, it seems to me I feel much more and stronger vibration through the case than is "right". And I cant imagine that vibration is good for the components. It's also a bit frustrating in that it works fine and probably will for a while, so it's not a cut and dried problem.

I remember having an Xbox 1 with a similar issue, and it worked fine forever, so I dunno.

Can't you wrap it in a towel and leave it running until you get 3 red rings? It's just as ethical as selling a defective product in the first place so I think it'd be justified.

Good to see you get a new Jasper. Mine is so much quieter than my XBrick Zephyr. Is yours quieter too?

Wow, odd error, E73: I/O Hardware Error - Couldn't calibrate HSIO Bus from edram: this error is likely caused by a problem with the Ethernet port or supporting control devices.

My buddy got a MW2 bundle Jasper recently. We had it at my place and I was surprised how silent it was. After about an hour of running it was quite cool to the touch also. I'm hoping mine current one holds together until the Slim/Natal version next christmas.

It has quite a bit more venting and it has a quieter fan, as far as I could tell. The dvd drive also doesn't sound like an airplane taking off when it spins up.

Yeah. I unplugged all of the accessories, including the hard drive and the error still came up. The only thing plugged in was the power cord. Bad luck on my part. If it was E74 or red ring, I would have been covered by the extended warranty.
