My HDD free space is shrinking....

Nesh

Double Agent
Legend
...for no reason!!!

GB are being filled in and I dont know why or by what!

I delete everything from my temp folders but this doesnt seam to help.

What on earth is going on? Today for example I lost 2 GB for no reason.

And there is also another thing.
I right click on my HDD and 81.5 out of 226 GB are used. I then enter my HDD select all files, right click on them and it says that they take only 48,4GB. Where on earth is the other 33GB?

In XP: window key + pause/break

System Properties - System Restore

Try running Disk Cleanup [File Explorer, Select drive, Right-click Properties, General, Disk Cleanup] to see what shows up. It could easily be System Restore, Hibernation file, Recycle Bin, and Uninstall backups taking up all that space.

System Restore In Vista: Windows Key + pause/break ; System Protection

I checked disk clean up before but it didnt show anything large enough.

Well it looks like system restore is on indeed. Should I switch it off? And if yes will that bring my HDD's available size to its appropriate amount or should I try to delete anything myself

edit: I switched it off and the free space inbcreased. Thanks :)
