I find it hilarious that it was Kathy Griffin who was imitating Musk and got perma-banned, I've missed her lately and it's good to see her up to shenanigans. 
Ugh! After spending way too much time looking into Musk's Twitter fiasco I'm wondering just wtf is up. I thought he banned Kathy because she was the only one who did that, but it turns out a whole bunch of people did including other celebrities and none of them have been perma-banned. If there's one thing I learned in my years of foruming it's that selective enforcement is a great key to community success, it's like a bedrock principle that users love and respect!

Yeah it turns out they're delaying that until after the elections and the project was the whole $7.99/mos for the blue check...which as so many pointed out just isn't working at all. The real question is what twitter becomes a year from now or two years from now.
I believe Musk wants to bring in short form video like tik tock / vine and then longer form. I also find it hilarious that people who make money off having verified twitter accounts are mad that they now have to pay for that verification. At the end of the day people will whine and in the end some go away for ever and some just come back. But Like I said this is the very beginning of the transitional period

This is just knee jerk reactions to people concerned their soap box is going to change. No one knows what the changes will do. If they get the short form video up quickly it may replace tik tock now that suddenly the FCC agrees with trump on it.
You have that backwards. It's the Twitter platform that makes money off having verified personalities using the platform to draw in everyone else. Without those personas no one would use that platform.
When I used twitter I didn't follow any singular person. I only followed companies for press releases.
Meanwhile there are people like wario64 (think thats his name) that uses twitter to blast out referral links to make money off people going to him looking for game deals. You have journalists who use twitter to blast news onto the platform with links to the full story and so on and so forth .
Just an FYI this parody account thing has been in the TOS for years now. You can have a parody account but there are rules you have to follow to have one
So are you saying you feel that Musk fairly applied that policy in this case?
I'd have to look at every case in order to say either way. One I am aware of is Ethan klein who certainly broke TOS. Same with Kathy griffon . They didn't follow the parody account rules and were banned.
I find it hilarious that many of these protests are upset because they wont have a special status of blue check marks. Now anyone can pay to have the privilege and they are all butt hurt . It reminds me of the mew mew beans episode of community.
Look at the end of the day its better for people to know who they are actually following and if its really the person or if its a parody account. Remember these are verified accounts changing their names. So its much easier for a segment of people to believe the false names.
This is a case of fuck around and find out.
Apparently in the past someblackguy changed their name to impersonate Tump and was banned and then more recently count dacula ? or something did the same thing but he was just suspended and forced to revert back.
Sarah Silverman and Valerie Bertinelli also impersonated Musk and neither were perma-banned. That's the bit I mean about selective enforcement.
The apps episode? I do not see the similarities at all, this is about paying to play rather than a "free speech platform". The blue marks weren't a status indicator, they were an identifier of verified accounts. Paying to be able to make a verified account doesn't seem to really verify anything except someone being dumb enough to give Twitter monies.
I haven't seen anything about Sarah Silverman or this other person although it brings up that she is upset that mathew perry outed her as an adulter. The question is what has their previous infractions been ? As far as I am concerned ban them all .
I mean maybe Griffin is banned cause she then took over her dead mothers account to skirt the suspension / ban ?

Yes the apps platform. This is all just a power trip of blue check marks because they will loose anything that makes them special on the platform. Blue check marks should have just meant this person is who they say they are. But often times blue check marks got elevated privileges including admin access . now when anyone can get blue check market thier power is in jeopardy.
I also think this co-oping of names just goes and shows how important paying for blue check marks actually is. institute a fee and add on name verification to it. That way there can only be one Kathy Griffin that is blue check marked and anyone else trying to impersonate it can't change the name to kathy griffin.

Yes the crazy person who thinks its hilarious that grown ass adults are getting upset cause others can buy blue colored check marks ? That people are upset when the platform holder can simply ban then for whatever they want like the platform holder has been doing since the inception of the site but now that they are the ones getting banned its an issue ?
You realize it's a small part of the larger outrage over him trying expecting people to approve of him turning Twitter into a subscription based service and his general bungling of the takeover as well as his ineptitude at trying to act like a human?
Then they should have bought twitter and ran it the way they wanted too ? Or perhaps they should now go and start their own twitter ?
Twitter will be free, no one has to pay for twitter. If you want a fancy blue check mark your going to have to pay for it. don't see an issue there. If people are so desperate to have a blue check mark and have their twitter audiance retweet them that they will throw a temper tantrum like a child then they can part with $8 to continue feeling important.
