[Multiplat] Battlefield 3

Ok, I thought 4 player coop was announced. Now I hear 2. Someone mentioned 2 but 4 player onslaught/horde/firefight mode.

So what is it?

Someone from DICE here can probably clarify. ^_^

Yo, repi... the GAF XMB chatroom has quite a few long time BF followers. They sing nothing but praises for the series. They also play BC2 quite frequently. Although I couldn't get into 1942 (or was it 1943 ?) personally, I am moved by your team's handwork and these people's enthusiasm. So I'll be there day one.

I'm thinking two discs will be awesome, if SP is on one and MP is on the other. A full DVD dedicated to MP - I wouldn't mind that at all. I have no interest in SP anyway.

I'll play through the campaign once or twice, but the real meat of the game will be the MP. So yeah, wouldn't be a big deal at all if it turned out 2 discs. Do we know how content filled the game is yet? How many MP maps are expected to ship, how many weapons, etc.?

It would be okay for most people if the MP and co-op are on the same disc. I don't think an SP campaign alone can take up a whole DVD though, considering they saidd they would rather have a short good campaign rather than long dull one.

But if co-op and MP are on different discs, then it is sure an issue

Well, for streaming it might be necessary on the 360 but on PC we can have super compressed data for a long one time install to HD.

Short answer: Maybe.

Maybe Battlefield has more unique assets than Skyrim. Maybe the assets in the SP and MP are divided to fit each mode respectively. How big or rather....how many hours of content you put into Skyrim is rather immaterial.

Maybe there are 10 DLC packs locked and ready to be paid for over the course of the next year on disk 2. :devilish:

Economics and/or user incompetence of handling of discs releases is not for the game thread. Game threads need less noise and more game discussion!

Does anyone know when the PS3 beta starts and if it is free available?
(An answer to the same question but PC related is also very appreciated )

Battlefield 3 pre-orders hit 1.25M:
http://www.vg247.com/2011/09/07/battlefield-3-pre-orders-hit-1-25m-swtor-still-on-track-for-q4/

During the Citi 2011 Tech Conference on Wednesday, September 7, Electronic Arts CFO Eric Brown announced that Battlefield 3 pre-orders have hit around the 1.25 million mark, and are tracking ahead of previous Battlefield games.

“To date we have about 1.25 million preorders on Battlefield 3, so it’s still well ahead of its predecessor title, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, in regards to preorders in the same number of weeks till launch,” he said during the conference, which was listened to by Gamasutra. “So it’s doing very well.”

For comparison and reference, Bad Company 2 moved 5 million units as of May 2011 across all formats. The firm also plans on spending oodles on marketing, and has plenty set aside for its budget.

...

Doesnt sound very impressive given all the trash they've been talking.

And they went from "10,000% more preorders than BC2" or whatever to "still well ahead" which sounds distinctly less impressive. What's the next stop, just a little ahead?

If this game actually doesnt sell that well (on console, I think it will on PC being one of the few games that looks to push PC hardware) it will forever prove to me that internet zealotry is fairly meaningless to real world sales...it's amazing the fact that, any MW3 video on youtube gets dislike bombed to death now by alleged bf3 fanboys...
