well, initially they will. Later on they'll switch :) It's how they've done things since the beginning.
PS->DOA
DC -> DOA2
PS2-> DOA2:HC
XBOX-> DOA3, DOAXBV, NG, DOAU

Team Ninja is probably going to be a deciding factor on which system I will eventually get... :cry: I sure do love tech demos ;)

I believe Microsoft has a good chance of hitting Sony in the pockets real good if they had a year advantage over their console.But,I doubt Sony will give them a year advantage when so much has already been done.Think for a second.Sony will be showing demos on their workstation alone with working tools for the PS3 later this year.How this turns into late 2006 or 2007 is beyond me.

One thing I don't believe is Microsoft knowing Sony's strategy or what will be in their console.For one,Sony hasn't released much of anything concerning their next-gen console.And two,from the words of Sony,the project is coming alone fine.So,it's pretty much safe to say that Sony does know what they are doing for next-generation,but because they haven't released it to the public,many people assume that they are struggling with this new project.I said it before,and I'll say it again:the silent ones are the most dangerous ones.Not that others will fail but that you shouldn't underestimate people because of this.

Thing is, whether u like it or not, the gap between release dates will be one year. if not 2, worst case scenario.

And how exactly did you figure this out when the workstation will be done later this year? :rolleyes: The Cell is done -- given the information we've received. I see an eight month gap here at the most.

I didn't "see" anything, that's what's been said by many people. It's all speculation at the moment, so drop the attitude huh...

Some will buy into anything it seems.

I didn't have an attitude.Maybe you interpreted it in that way,but I was merely asking a question.And you're right,it is only speculation at the time.Sony has already mention the other plants preparing themselves to produce the first batch of Cell chips with IBM being the very first to ship theirs out.Then E3 came up with Sony talking about the tools (workstation & development kits) being ready for the PS3 before next year.That is why I say it looks to be an eight month gap at the most.

Not at most. At least. Very different.

Well yeah,if something deside to go wrong,yeah.

Microsoft is all set to release in 2005, xmas time at the latest. Sony will release anytime between xmas 2006 and anytime in 2007. The gap is at least 1 year. That is if everything goes right. If something goes wrong, the gap will be even wider.

Are you sure?I remember Sony launching the PS2 around March or Febuary of 2000 in Japan with the US getting it six to eight months after.Don't pay too much attention to those holiday dates:they can throw you off. ;)

if the gap is one year, xbox2 will be the new DC. If it is more, it could be a new genesis or more. Maybe, MS like to play and is praying that something goes wrong in Sony's plans.

LB are you contradicting yourself again? :LOL:

Personally Sony is sitting high and mighty given they're the only player that can cause the shift to next-gen development, unless M$ spends big$$$ to make the shift.

Gap between DC and PS2 was over a year, about 16 months, couple less if you just count the US releases.

When people talk about the gap between the two machines getting released, are they talking about the US releases, or the machines first showing anywhere in the world? It looks like Xbox 2 will get at least a years (give or take a month or two) head start in the US, with a greater gap probably servering the Xbox 2 better. The Japanese launches should be a lot closer though, maybe only a few months appart ...

Well you did tell the guy, in a very matter of fact way, that the gap will be at least 1 year wether he likes it or not. Then you said its all just speculation anyway, which does seem to be just a little bit contradictory :)

That is exactly the point I was trying to make.Microsoft eating up the US market isn't really that big of a deal when Sony is eating up the Japanease market.Either way it goes,they are getting market share.Persuading the US that their console is better will be the problem just as it will be for Microsoft in Japan.But,hopfully the hype will get the point across faster.That is why I say I doubt Sony will give them a year lead.This applies to their market - not the US.
