MS E3 2012 conference

I'm watching, but the timing for some of these conferences doesn't mix well with my European lifestyle. ;) Thanks to the iPad I've been able to walk around and eat watching some of it though.

So far, no real surprises, just moving on on the expected path. I don't know how much I missed though, I came in when I saw some EA demos 'better with Kinect' which meant, basically voice controls (which however seem a very good addition to Madden, slightly less so for FIFA)

A lot of content related announcements.
Geow title is a 2013 title which lead me to think that the the 360 may see another fall before being replaced.
Nothing unexpected for now still MS offering for US is really coming together.

A nice is thing is that " xbox smartglass" works with any OSes.
It's official the Wiiumote is already outdone. Smart phones are everywhere in every hand. games developers can rely on it as it's ubiquitous.

SmartGlass definitely looks like a very potent play by Microsoft and a pretty good pro-active blow against Nintendo in the process.

Can't say I care about games on these ancient boxes, but the non gaming stuff is interesting. Especially Xbox Music with over 30 million tracks! Looks like I may be ditching Spotify if that turns out to be true. Smart glass looks intruiging as well. I'll see tomorrow when I'm at e3 if anything pops out at me game wise, but somehow I doubt it.

What you are not turned on by the "Angry bird" like on Kinect.
No!!! those big boobs and arms movement have gone to waste...

Wow who is that guy dancing, that's gay not too mention the music sucks...
It's getting boring people... ;(

I think we're just too old for this ;)

Resident Evil seems to have borrowed from Uncharted...

If you honestly don't know Usher, well, color me surprised. As for if we're getting too old for this - Usher is from 1978. That's probably older than most people watching. ;)

Looks like I only missed Halo 4.

Oooh, Call of Duty The Clone Wars. :D

I don't know Usher... I'm two year too old :)

EDIT
Tho the name tells me something but that's (was) all. Not that happy to have extend my general knowledge this far

halo 4 graphics are stunning. with graphics like these who needs next gen.

it seems rather tunnel-ish though, hope the whole game isn't like that. i suppose halo 3's jungle level was as well.

the overall quality of graphics on display in some of these titles is amazing. if you transported me from early 2006 to this conference i doubt i would have believed it.

black ops 2 though, still looked pretty damn dated, lol (though, i remember modern warfare 1 blowing me away at the time, still remember gaping at the game informer scans of it, speaking of shifting standards with time lol. i am sure black ops 2 looks way better, yet now it looks terrible compared to other games)

from what i've seen not much kinect was on display, so i wonder what people will find to complain about this time.

i missed the smartglass part but it sounds great. works with smartphone too?? i imagine there's a ton of people (like me) who have perfectly fine hdtv's they're not looking to replace, but those tv's are not "smart", so this will have a huge market.

But, no official price drop??? neogaf had uncovered a post e3 wal mart ad indicating a $30 cut. These shiny graphics need a shiny new price point. MS sure have turned into some tight wads. bkillian's profit center, indeed, not a good thing.

Great conference much better than I expected.

Halo 4 -cool, It take a hint or two of Metroid Prime

Kinnetic voice control - finally, but possible on all of them

Smart Glass - it will steal some thunder but I really dislike the open platform aspect of it (I Kind hate the PC still dont behave, "closed platforms" are much more productive, it reminds me a bit of Linux), lots of pressure on Wii U price, still I have doubts on it, maybe I am just to much of a Nintendo fan.

Lot of interactive movies - RE6 :(

Great demo of Tomb Raider, - really seems something else

Xbox live stuff/smart TV stuff - couldn't care less

Beautifull GFX overall in the games showed

Trey Parker riffing on smartglass was hilarious. Honestly, I can't get that excited about features I'd barely use. I doubt I'll bother reading stuff off my tablet while I'm watching something on the Xbox.

The conference was light on certain specifics such as, does smartglass work with iOS and Android or just Windows 8? What stuff is stuck behind the XBL Gold pay wall and what isn't? Are the different sports and media packages part of the Gold subscription now?

I think we're just too old for this ;)

Resident Evil seems to have borrowed from Uncharted...

Who isn't? The new Tomb Raider might as well be Uncharted 4 starring Lara Croft.

I'm still loving the idea of Tomb Raider as an origin story. But I was disappointed with the lack of gameplay so far. It's taking the corridor to new heights. Compared to Uncharted, which had corridors too, there's too much 11/10 volume, and not enough exploration parts being shown so far. But we'll see more of the game right after this I think.

And incidentally, if any game has rights to borrow from Uncharted, it's Tomb Raider. ;) Just hoping they do it well, and so far it seems a tad too unbalanced. But we'll see more.

So far though, apart from the potential of smart glass, this conference hasn't been for me at all. The media features have been decent, but I can't buy a Kinect just for voice commands, and so far the media features have remained fairly pointless in The Netherlands. And it looks like it will stay that way. Good that they're doing a web browser though.

but I really dislike the open platform aspect of it

wut? 60million Xboxes hundreds of millions Android/IOS devices.. only way to do it.

The Wii U could be the biggest apocalpyse of modern times at this rate. Tech is advancing too fast for Nintendo to stay relevant

I was a bit sad to see tomb raider (which I got a 3dfx card to play when it first came out ) turn into 'yet another' cover shooter...... and where were Rare? I was hoping for a at least a Viva Pinata Kinect game (ideally a new Kameo!). <sigh>
