Movie Reviews 2.0

Ok so I watched The Avengers a couple of weeks ago with my girlfriend and we both loved it. Tonight I watched Iron Man 1 and it was also really good.

Up till now this hasn't really been my kind of movie (at least I'd avoided the "comic" movies), but I have to say they have both been amazing. Actually I watched Thor months ago and enjoyed it even though I thought it was total nonsense!

Is there an order to watch these? Clearly having watched The Avengers *before* Iron Man wasn't proper in chronological or story terms, nor was having watched Thor first. I intend to watch the rest (hulk, captain america etc) so if anyone can give me an order to it I'd be obliged.

They're all standalone, basically, apart from the Iron Mans, where the second is obviously the sequel to the original. ...And they all chronologically precede The Avengers, of course. You don't really miss out on anything important by not watching them in the "correct" order though. The only common character between all of the movies is Nick Fury, and his part is really small in the previous films.

You get some background story about the "tesseract" from Thor and Captain America, where the latter all revolves around said object pretty much. But again, the order of watching isn't super duper important really.

Ok thanks Grall - just to confirm even though they are standalone...

Having watched Thor, the Avengers and now Iron Man 1 I should probably be watching Iron Man 2, then Hulk / Captain America in any order right? I'm not even sure if there are more films (I see older films from 2000 for example which I'm sure aren't related).

I really am a total noob at this genre as you probably figured. :D

Be sure to watch the short clips at the end of the credits. Also watching captain America before watching iron man 2 helps a a bit. The hulk however does not matter when you watch it since its also quite standalone. But yeah watch the clips at the end of the credits anyway. The hulk was a great movie, much better than the one Eric Bana was in.

Ok thanks suryad, I'll take this advice. I get it's not super important how they are watched but it's good to be "suprised" sometimes if it occurs.

Even though I basically already ruined it by watching The Avengers first...oh well. :D

Actually, I feel the other way around is true. Not that I really dug the Ang Lee hulk movie either, but I did like it more. The "new" hulk definitely had that end-of-level boss feel someone talked about earlier in this thread, and I just thought it silly with two computer generated things slugging it out. All the extra spiky teeth or spines or whatever it was on that other hulk just made it even more ridiculous. It was too fake, the hulk was absolutely the weakest of all the newest wave of Marvel movies IMO.

So I'm watching (to use the term loosely) Tekken, right now, just to see how crap it is. And I can confirm, in real time for the first time in this thread, that the movie is unequivocally utter shite.
But hey, some fit half naked boys. Cool!
That's all.

Edit: and they keep saying 'iron fist' over and over... Kinky! Oooh naked guy! Bye!

Captain America - 8/10
Iron Man 2 - 7/10

I'll watch The Incredible Hulk tonight or tomorrow.

What would you rank Thor against those two? I've rewatched Thor a few times, and have to say, it holds up rather well. The first Iron Man is probably my favorite. I didn't like the Hulk, the CGI Hulk is just way out there. Also, shame about the lack of continuity, though that said, I prefered the later actor / Hulk. Captain America was amazing in some respects (especially the first half), but very mediocre in others, so a little bit too unbalanced.

I watched a lot of movies one of the nights I was sick at home this week, Warrior was amazingly good for that genre (fighters). The Lady was also quite good.
