I've offten woundered how many people are injured or killed by idiots who fire into the air. Sometimes you get lucky and no one is hurt (sometimes you get luckier as in this case ). How many are injured when the Iraqi's or Iranians fire into the air in celebration for some event?

just recently in serbia there was a wedding and they managed to shoot a passing light aircraft down...........

think it killed the two people in the plane

What's up with celebrating by firing shots in the air? Who thought up that idea anyway? Why don't they light some fireworks or something instead? Bringing weapons to a party doesn't sound like the greatest idea (especially not after a few drinks).

It certainly does seem like someone 'up there' has a sense of humour and irony.
But on the individual level.. it's pretty damn grim for family friends and obviously guy who died. Er... obviously. Swiftly moving on

hmm, not sure. I remember the incident in afhgan, where a plane thought it was being attacked. Turned out it was a weeding party celebrating by firing in the air. Changing to fireworks might have altered what happened.

Also Ive never been in such a situation, so what if these peopel find something in the air to shoot at, and then do so.
