MGS4 movie

Seriously, right? It looks good in the videos, but when you see it on TV it's insane. By the way, guys I think it was running at either 30fps or 60fps. It had that same super smooth feel you see in the DOA4 HD trailer or the FFVII Tech Demo HD Trailer. Also, I couldn't see any jaggies what-so-ever. I'm probably cursing it for saying this, but next gen will probably be the end of jaggies, at least on normal TVs.

The direct feed in all its glory just takes it up a whole other notch, and even considering I knew the shaky cam footage wasnt doing it justice I wasn't prepared for how clean and detailed it really is. The shadows impressed me the most I think, the veneer of the shaky cam didnt capture just how dynamic and nuanced they really are.

I cant believe how embarressingly transparent some of the people in this thread are though. Do you know how cringing it is to read some of you guys? Might want to relax a bit, its just a console.

That lil subtitle at the end was hilarious. LOL

Really, this is ridiculous. First it was MGS4 vs. Gears of War vs. RE5. Now it's textures vs. textures on both consoles. Seriously, when I look at these games in motion I don't give a squat to the the textures that aren't even worth noticing. When I saw that trailer for the first time, I didn't even care to notice the walls. Why? Because that's what Kojima intended from the beginning. He wanted us to look at the CQC event. Not a bullet etched in the adjacent wall with text written that says, "Made with Cell processor".

Hideo Kojima just slapped the likes of PC developers in the face with his trailer that you don't need to invest in mind-bending details just to achieve Killzone level quality. Look at my trailer and notice when it's in motion, you can't tell the difference. Games are meant to be played when they are in motion not when they are being scrutunized when they are paused. With Kojima's game, developers may understand that they don't have to invest in textures for every lil detail in the universe(just to be like Killzone demo). All they need to emphasise is on their main goals.

I don't know how to explain my thoughts anymore than this but I'm sure those of you who cared to read it until now must have grasped atleast part of it. Thanks for reading but I seriously think if there is a cheaper way of achieving Killzone level, Kojima just made it a realization for the entire world to see.

No, I think he probably does want us to see the "made with CELL processor". Kojima and his team are weird like that. ;p Hehehe, but no, you're right, they want you to enjoy the cinematic experience and just have fun, not nitpick about some textures in the background. Just soak in what they're trying to do and enjoy it.

Also, I'd STILL stay away from naming that trailer which is forbidden... frankly though MGS4's probably going to be forbidden soon too. In honesty, MGS4 is a good bit away from that-which-shall-not-be-named, but emotionally and cinematically I'd say it's there if not better. But that's about artistic direction, not the technical.

Also, Scooby... it's real and NOT sped up, Kojima's crew showed it off in much the same fashion as UT2007, so no hoccus-poccus this time around.

I completely agree and I totally know what you mean, but can't quite put it in words. I guess in the end we can't argue little bits of pictures because it's more a choice of Art Direction now a days than anything else. Have you seen American McGee's Bad Day in LA or whatever? I thought that was an Xbox 360 title because it looked so good, but it's because of the art direction that makes it look that way.

If you want it that badly -- and I can see why you would -- you can do as I do and refresh this page every 30 seconds ;)

Word going around is it wont pop up until Sunday because G4 of all places managed to get some kind of limited right to air it on their network. The version they showed was amazing but its heavily edited and broken up into different parts. Hopefully we'll get the whole uninterrupted enchilada in a couple days. Like I said the difference is remarkable, more than I expected.

I've heard Sunday or the 27th of September....but the Sunday date seems more believable. Damn G4.

LOL..I want to see it badly...but i'm not that devoted. I won't be the first to see it...but hopefully when it is put up, word will spread like wildfire!

This is what i expected of real next gen games. It is good, it is a realistic promise(unlike one FPS) for PS3, 360, PC, Revolution(?). But looks more like a Nvidia demo than MGS trailer. You can still see the 'imperfections'. Like, they are recycling MGS3 animations, as KOEI DW demo, you also see instances of this gen floaty limbs.

Dont run out of pants, right MGS4 is best looking demo now, there will be more to come.

Fo example if Konami made a Castlevania game for PS3 that looked on par visually with this MGS4 footage..

I hope they have one planned for the future.

Good looking trailer, but nothing to shit your pants over in my opinion.

That one liner explains my thoughts perfectly.

Well when Konami and Capcom merges, Konami will just borrow Capcom's DMC4 engine and replace Dante with a Belmont. ;)

Captures from G4. Better in some respects to what we've had before - it's not cam-on-screen - but not as good in other ways..colouring is way off, they're not complete from what i've seen sofar, and not native resolution obviously.

But I got a new appreciation for some of the motion in the video and soforth - fast motion is better represented in this one than others i think. Some of the smaller detail is easier to make out too. Brilliant stuff :) I just noticed in these vids, for example, how the cigarette smoke trails after Snake as he runs out of the building at the end..that's attention to detail.

The best quality footage yet is posted in the post above yours^, but it doesn't get the killzone, and the Cell beig the "key to winning the next gen war" thing at the end that the official Konami one you postded has.
