MAG

Come on man... the waypoint is important to mark out your next priority, not just direction; like telling everyone to claim a bunker first before moving on. The bunker will be the forward spawn to avoid long walk.

I am contemplating buying a second copy for my home PS3. As it is right now, I carry it with me in my office case -- everywhere I go (in case I end up playing at work or home). That's a little silly.

EDIT: What the *beep*, I just told my enemy what best to do in the battlefield.

EDIT 2: Oh brotha... going into Domination map for the first time after launch. I hate GAF sometimes. I am not ready yet !

:LOL: I got a grand total of 28 points in Domination.

I made 450 in my first domination map & we won that game so I think I got a bit of bonus too :)
P.S.[You were right...Winning is getting boring now]

450 is pretty good ! What skill tree are you developing ?

I heard about the lock-on RPG Cornsnake mentioned, but I am not focusing on Acquisition and Domination yet. Trying to get damage resistance and increased health for myself.

I see quite a few people migrating from SVER to Valor. So that clan seems to be growing rather quickly.

EDIT: I think I just saw Dregun in my team ([ST~]Dregun ?). He scored 525 points.

:LOL: Played with JPT and Cornsnake tonight. Trying to see how Acquisition and Domination work. Getting murdered by enemies while I learn the ropes is rather embarrassing though. ^_^

Thanks for inviting me to the party (Quiting at 5am :)). Also added Ygg_Barasil to my friends list. His nick looks familiar. May be I have played against him elsewhere (like R2 ?). It triggered an alarm in my mind, which means he must have killed me quite a few times before. :)

Upto level 16 now, been getting more points since i became "the chosen one" in my squad. Fully fledged sniper with healing abilities for my fallen comrades. think its time for me to ventrure into the other gamemodes now. 530ish kills, 270ish deaths

That seems to be the only way the game is willing to let you learn anything. Still we played some great games, with a fair few wins.

I wish squadleaders would make better use of the frago. Placing it on the most important objective at that moment is a great way to both lead your troops, and reward them with extra XP. And for every completed order the squadleader in turn is rewarded with points that go towards unlocking the platoonleader and OIC positions.

Maybe next time the whole party should apply for squadleader to increase our chances of one of us getting it, and doing a good job of it to make everyone benefit.

I'll switch to Valor once I am lvl 60 in SVER. I hope the Raven guys do the same too.
So that way we can atleast play together in a team once ;)

At one point I hiked back to what must be our own vehicle depot by mistake. ^_^. There was no one there, and I couldn't do anything. Had to hike all the way back to the front.

Also in Acquisition, there are:
* 1 vehicle to be stolen (all the way in the depot ?)
* 2 Bunkers
* 1 AA battery (Can be ignored ?)
* 1 mortar battery (Can be ignored ?)
* 1 Gate

It's impossible to escape without destroying at least one of the bunkers right ?

It will take a L-O-N-G time for me to reach lvl 60 in Raven. :p
I am lvl 19 now, 5 points/levels away from increased health.

That's the faction my friend's on and so the one I'd join probably. Rats. One more point in favour...

Valor should be good fun. I'd say an even fight with Raven.

How much of the mechanics can be attributed to dedicated server ? The firefight reminds me of RFOM. The other FPSes have a more "loose" feel to it. Or am I hallucinating again ?

In Acquisition the maps is divided in 2 halfs, 1 for each platoon. Each half has:
* 2 transport vehicle's to be stolen from the depot.
* 4 bunkers.
* 1 AA battery.
* 1 mortar battery.
* 1 main gate, and depending on the map, another gate, or multiple roadblocks.
* 1 sensor battery.
* 2 motor pools.

Besides the transport vehicle's, the AA battery is IMO the most critical to success. It keeps the attackers from using the forward spawn, past the bunkers, and their airstrikes. As long as the main gate is up it's impossible to escape with the transport vehicle. The bunkers don't need to be down to escape, but it'll be very difficult to escape without at least the bunkers near the main gate down. The bunker turrets can quickly destroy a transport vehicle. The mortar battery is nice to have up and running, it's safe to ignore it in favour of the transport vehicle, AA, bunkers, or the main gate.

It reminds of RFOM in the way that it lets me run & gun with it, and the incredible accuracy of the weapons. Just like the Carbine in RFOM. The dedicated servers that reduce lag to a minimum. And a decent party system.

Good lord, that's like at least 3 times more difficult than I thought !

Yes, RFOM has longer health bar so that the players have time to play out their tactics (head shot, strafing skill, switch weapon on-the-fly to defend/attack more effectively). It also has a unique selection of weapons.

Core mechanics like the running speed, controls and weapon handling feel very similar. I like the long grenade throw also.

Have you tried attacking SVER ? The 4 bunkers are in a straight line on higher ground (like they show in the GT review) and they can cover each other and the guys spawning there can quickly head over to another bunker to help out. Plus that gives them opportunity to head out to our spawn area to camp and distract.
If you win there you can be really proud. Valors map is a walk in the park.

Nope. Yesterday was the first time I played Acquisition for real. I played once with GAF but I didn't know what's going on then.

Does poison work on bunkers ? Also how many mortar or bombardment can a bunker take ?

I don`t know about the bombs. I don`t have ambitions for being a leader...maybe 2 airstrikes ? But they only work when the AA battery is destroyed first so most of the time it`s about setting charges to get the bunker down.
BTW I respecd once again, this time to pure commando with silenced SMG and all the electronics. So now I try to slip past the bunkers and try to sabotage the AA and stuff, it`s pretty exciting. In sabo mode I go off and hunt down snipers and try to cut off freshly spawned enemies.
Before I reach 60 I have to get the knife upgrades though, they seem pretty helpful.

I am noticing that RAVEN is kicking some serious ass since past 2 days, they are the current leaders in Acq & Domination gamemodes.
I assume that this is because most of the better players from other factions already reached lvl 60 & switched to Raven.
And I must tell you guys that till now I have played 9-10 Acq matches on where Raven attacks SVER & out of those I have atleast lost 4-5 times lol.

Yes you can drop a poison bomb on the bunker.
And I think it only takes one strike to destroy the bunker...but that ability is only for the platoon leader.

Skills are improving. The Valor team I fought with held our Objective A for the entire game. We couldn't take it back. >_<

They would prowl our base as if it's theirs ! Anyone who ventured in alone was attacked from multiple positions, including a sniper from far. Tried to flush them out with chemical grenade, only succeeded once; then they came back within 3 seconds and reclaimed it.

We finally lost the game at the last 16 seconds. Was able to held on to Objective B until the last 3 minutes. Lost Objective C when 7-8 of them stormed the place. Learned that the timer will stop counting when a charge is set. I thought there was not enough time for their charge to explode, but dang, I was wrong.

Conversely, we were able to take their base twice tonight. One of the times, we took it down in less than 5 minutes. Was perfectly well executed (Read: a fluke). I only fired 2 shots in Objective A: One to take out the sniper at the tower (above A). Second round to take out someone who rushed in to defuse our charges. And then it was down together with Objective B (Ha ha). Rushed all the way to Objective C in my sniper outfit. Threw 4 chemical grenades (2 at a time for increased potency I guess) into the right most spawn point to stop them from coming. Killed about 6-7 guys within a few seconds (Those +5 and +3 XPs kept rolling ^_^). And then it was all over. Someone on my team must be very impatient.

Yeah macabre, I don't aspire to be a squad leader too. But I probably will try airstrike at least once.

I'm leveling pretty fast but am currently dissapointed with weapon upgrades as Raven.

I have a few tips for spending skill points that I would like to share with you (as Raven, not sure if skills are different for Valor & SVER)

1st, I believe every soldier should have the first medkit with basic resurrection. Although it only raises them to 50% health (and usually you die right away because your health is so low) it's vital that your squad doesn't have to run back from spawn if possible.

2nd, Athleticism is very important; put aside your thirst for kills and concentrate on your ability to stay alive and you will get more points (I 2x my score by doing so). It costs 5 skill points for only 20 more hitpoints but considering you have to purchase either "Grendade resistance' or "Gas resistance" it makes a huge difference. Getting sniped while parachuting in..you can take that single shot now. Dieing by a single grenade..you can survive now. I can't tell you how many times my health has been down to 6-18, I would have been dead without the extra grenade protection or extra health.

3rd, if going heavy on Raven don't bother getting the new machine gun; seriously it has lower specs then the orginal unless equiped with scope and handle to make it -even. Only difference is you get a little bit more stopping power but the weapon weighs more and therefore you get less bang for your buck.

4th, mine as well buy mines! Easy EASY points, set these mines correctly at your fargo point and watch your points and kills rocket up. It's the easist points you can get as you are out of harms way and since you place these near your fargo location you get double the points. This is also a good indication that someone or a group is near that objective. If you see that you killed someone using those mines be prepared to hear the siren go off that your objective is being taken. These are also good to place in locations to help keep you safe. If your in a location that requires stairs to get to you placing one of these charges will protect and warn you.

5th, I mentioned athleticsm before and one of the nice things about obtaining the health bonus is that you also sunk some points into your recovery time and sprint time. This will allow you to wear heavier armor if needed without feeling like a tank. Running longer, with heavier armor, increased health and grenade resistance means you can put yourself at a higher risk..outlast many opponents and revive team mates while taking fire.

6th, Gas isn't always a good thing to throw! Please warn your team mates before throwing gas at an objective. Nothing is worse then having a clear objective free of your opponent and trying to secure the objective before you die from Gas that was thrown without need. Having a lot of health, armor and everything else doesn't stop you from becoming weak quickly because your sucking gas. Don't make your opponents job easier by weaking your team mates.

7th, Remember the recharge time needed for medics. Don't get all pissy if a medic revives someone lying next to you but doesn't revive you right away. Since it takes a minimum of 5 seconds to charge up the medkit again that is 5 seconds an enemy could be trying to take out the medic or the medic could be taking out someone who is about to kill another team mate. if you are a medic that has been killed and is now being revived, the first thing you should do is swap to your medkit and spam a dust cloud. You might rez someone or refill someones HP, other people besides you play the game and they might need your help.

8th, Snipers are not useless...sometimes! If your team is ahead of you securing an objective dont camp back at spawn! If your team mates keep dying by the same sniper ask them where they are, you can get a kill and save your team mates at the same time! Your focus as a sniper should be support, that is what a sniper does. You don't hear about snipers being rambos because that is not what they are trained for. 1 shot, 1 kill. You protect your team mates from other snipers and threats they cannot see, if your team is 100 yards in front of you what good are you to them with a enemy sniper 100 yards ahead of them!

9th, Learn how to mute your mic people. I don't care what your mom is picking you up for dinner at McDonalds. I don't care that your girlfriend is complaining that you where supposed to leave an hour ago but your still "Playing that damn game". I don't care that your buddy called and asked what you are doing to your reply "playing some shitty game, these people suck". What I do care about is not being able to hear anyone else over your rudeness or your mouth breathing driving me crazy. Hearing someone who sounds like a grown man complain that his mom messed up his cheeseburger order is funny and not for the reasons you where hoping!

Finally 10, thank your team when you win. You don't have to go all beauty pangent on them but a quick "thanks guys, good work" or "we kicked their asses" sticks with those you play with. It really shows a fatal flaw in this game because unless those you just played with are on your friends list chances are playing with them is going to be sporatic. I don't know about the rest of you but I remember the "good" players and the "bad" players and join groups accordinaly.

Another suggestion.. Join a clan, the game is more fun when you are playing with a group of people consistantly. I have a member in my clan who is a beast..rambo.. with a high amount of kills but he also revives people. I have other members who don't do as well but what they do is help the team and since they are in a clan they communicate all the time. If your not going to join a clan, try to play with one as much as possible. The game is so much different when your in a squad that has 2-3-6 clan mates in it.

SVER Acquisition is all about taking down the bunker turrets first. The map seems to be designed with that in mind because it has resupply crates well ahead of the bunkers, unlike the other maps. Most people will just take the APC, park it right between 2 bunkers, and get destroyed in seconds. Instead by taking down the turrets first, you can safely drive it up there, and use it's gun to cover guy planting charges. Much like the bunkers could cover each other before.

Also, there is a bug on that map. If someone dies in the water they can't be revived. Bleeding out immediately is the best thing to do so your squadmates won't try to revive you, and get shot in the process.
