I think that's a bad idea. A moderator should be able to stand up to his or her actions.

We don't need the moderator(s) to come under attack for every time they make a post that favors another console. We would have too many posters screaming bias and people would think it is unfair. We saw it happen with Quincy quite a bit, it just isn't fair to the person or the people on the forum. The moderator would still be responsible for their actions, just under a moderator position. If there would be multiple moderators then it would act as a checks and balance function that would keep each mod in line. With whoever the new mod(s) is/are I'm sure there would be at least someone on the board who disagrees with the decision, and that is fine. Nothing much to add here - I guess it really comes down to the person who should decide if he wants remain anonymous or not. After lurking around in this thread long enough, I have made up my mind about who I think would do a good job: I'd like to nominate Sonic.

but that is the reason why they said *impartial* mods...

theoretically and *impartial* mod would not do something *in favour* of another console... he/she would say something that is *impartial* to the thread... the *impartial* mod would not say things like: "this game could only be done on this console because the others are crap".....
he would be more like: "this console is best suited for this kind of game, however under certain circumstances and on the hands of good developers, the same game situation could be recreated on any other console"

you know what i mean....

*impartial* means *not putting yourself into the situation of being seen as someone preferring something over something else*

Well the thing is, no matter how impartial sounding you are in a topic, someone will always try to turn it around or make it look like you're biased. This even happend to ERP on occasion, although he did a exceptional job by not getting pissed at some of the things people said about him.

Ozy is not a troll at all. Perhaps someone needs to ban you since you don't want to stop the name calling and have an extremely bad attitude towards everyone?

I'd have to agree with Ozy that there are only a few people that I wouldn't like to see modding this place. For the most part, this place is isolated and the people that come here are here to chat and debate.. not to cause trouble. They can do that on IGN.

There are a pile of candidates here.. although I'd have to agree with JVD and put in a good word for the underrated Tagrineth since I enjoy reading most of her posts.

Several times you have directed unprovoked personal attacks against me. This needs to stop. It's just not necessary, and it's certainly not in line with the spirit of this forum.


BTW, I wouldn't be interested in being a mod even in the slightest. I like just being a poster, and sharing my opinions/getting in interesting discussions about gaming/learning about technology. Being a mod would just be a headache I'm flattered that Ben suggested me though, and I think he'd make a good mod, if he wanted to accept it.

I don't care if a mod likes a console more than another, and really noone should care, moderating a forum is not about equality, it's about keeping thread informative and avoiding flame wars.
As long as the mod don't use it's power to close thread about consoles he doesn't like, which is unlikely IMO.

I would love to see Sonic and Tagrineth as console mods.

a) They both know their console lore.

b) Their posts have always been pleasant to read.

So if there is voting to be done. I vote for Sonic and Tagrineth.

You're right, it may not happen as long as the mod is being reasonable. But what is seen as reasonable may be different than from what another poster sees as reasonable. I don't mind having a mod going under close scrutiny for doing the job as a moderator. If people want to point out that the mod does this/that when editing or deleting a post then that's acceptable. A mod has a certain job, and there should be a clear and representable account/name that this job is performed under. I do see the advantages of having the moderator being known under his/her username that they are a mod. I understand this, but the person may feel like he/she can no longer contribute to the discussion by voicing their own opinions.

can't we just post a poll and vote on it. Like say you wanted to ban me. Get a poll done where you can't post in it only vote. Do ban for a week , ban for a month , or baned. Add in no ban. Let us vote. and figure it out that way.
