Little secret: I HATE OFF-ROADING!!!

I think his nickname with our group of friends was actually "Groove" back in '84 but it sort of got shortened in the intervening interval. Language de-evolution is fascinating.

Also:

"4/29 called jay. He got out of the hospital today and is hooked up to a monitor pack for his heart, parts (rocker bolt, oil pan seal), coming in later today His son Keane(?) is working on it. Will call later today or tomorrow."

Groo the Mendicant?
Back in the mid to late 80s that'd sort of work, he was my foxhole companion another surviving veteran of the great acid wars of that period. One of the best peeps I know.

I shudder to think of the repair cost when this is all finished.
$1,100us, was informed of that when we were scheduled to pick it up last Sunday.

Spoke to him yesterday. Transmission and engine are in and mated, still waiting on the "cam bolt". I think he's talking of a busted rocker valve bolt since I know he's talking camshaft and not suspensions stuff, it's not a camber bolt. Said he thinks it'll be done today...

1100 is not bad for three years of labour plus parts.
Well we already paid either $400 or $450 for analysis and prelim work, basically a down payment, then we bought $1,400 in parts. Jay ordered 'em and we paid the bill. When he set it up for us to pick it up last Sunday he brought up money and said he was giving us a discount and eating some of the costs because of the massive delays/setbacks and that's where the $1,100 final payment number came from.

Economically it's a great deal for what was done but that's contingent on it getting done and working right.

Also he hasn't had it for 3 years, it's been 2 years and 5 months.

Found out why the camshaft bolt broke, the new camshaft is defective and out of spec. Newer camshaft coming Friday which will be installed by then or Saturday.

Heavy sigh.
