KILLZONE Shadow Fall [PS4]

@Arwin: if u r playing on a 720p TV, how does KZSF look? Are the finer details on cloths, small particles and other textures lost? I remember not seeing the fine edges of burning papers, flying in the wind, in the first demo level in the 720p video and getting wowed when 1080p version was released. but that was a youtube video, a lot of detail is anyways lost.

I remember I got better AA in MGS4 when I set my ps3 to 1080p , as MGS4 rendered at 900p(something higher than 720p) and the TV downsampled the image to 720p giving me free AA. Setting the same game t run at 720p gave me more aliasing.

I am asking cos I have a 720p TV and a 1080p monitor but if I get the camera, my PS4 might stay on the TV for quite a lot of time.

DF needs to test if reduced resolution ends up with better performance or different AA options etc. I'd tweet it to them but they haven't replied to a single tweet of mine so I can't be bothered.

Well i have both this and BF4 and the notion that BF4 is better graphically is laughable. i admit, comparing games using compressed youtube clips, one might get the impression they are closer, but they are not. KZSF is worlds apart.

Art direction is a different topic though. BF4 is very realistic in how it presents itself while KZ is clearly stylized - a bit comic like in its artistic direction. Most people and non gamers will prefer how BF4 presents itself but KZ has a lot more detail, complex environment and the scenery and lighting is absolutely gorgeous.

I played a bit of story and multiplayer. MP is great, very similar to KZ2. And i still rule. :D

Not sure though what i will be playing more though; BF4 is very very good. Different, but good.

As a fan of KZ2 and 3 (only story) - KZSF satisfies. I wouldnt disagree with reviews giving it a 7 though - for people being used to CoD / BF type of shooters, this is more of a hate/love thing. Definately less mainstream that doesnt have to be a bad thing.

I'll be playing both! Hope to see some of you in some online matches!

The controller speaker will have great potential in horror genre games :devilish:

Yes I was thinking about it lately. I was envisioning a SIlent Hill game where the radio noise would come from the controller's speakers and you could use the controller's gyros to direct the flashlight in a room

Those who say there is bad AI are wrong. I began the game on hard and seems overestimate myself :) I can't pass just beginning in the forst. Echolocation doesn't help - they overtake me! :)

damn, I just came here to post this :p
I think I need to practice some more: I play every game on hard, always. Never died so much :(

Yap, from what little I played, the AI is solid. Need to put up a good fight.

The KZSF gameplay trailers don't do justice to the game.

I can't even pass it on easy ... Have to be very careful with the alarms.

Not sure, if this qualifies as a spoiler but just to be safe I hid it. If you cannot disable alarms with stealth,
it may be best to camp behind safe cover (preferably corner) as after noticing you, enemies one by one will try to reach the alarm blindly (assuming it's still silent). Easy kills afterwards while guarding the alarm as well. Camper style:)
disclaimer: I only played til the "undercover" mission on hard. Not sure when I will be able to continue. Still, great gameplay, best KZ for me. Tech and assetwise inconsistent and occasional lack of polish shows. Probably I shouldn't talk more until completion.

Anyone make it to chapter 7 yet? specifically the Last Stand part?

Is it just me or are the ISA harder and harder to sympathize with every new game?

Haven't booted the solo campaign yet but got into multiplayer with 5 buddies and....Was pretty chaotic. The 2 maps we were in had too much verticality with toomuch obstructed objects and corridors...Man I miss Pyrhus rise and radec academy and tharsis depot from the previous KZ. Also the menu are too confusing. Too much stuffs going on the screen. But well the complains we all agreed are the walking and running...TOO SLOW....don't know what they did but the animation and the way you character moves is just too slow paced...
Hope to game with some of you guys here...But I m really am disapointed at first play...Was much excited before only watching vids. But the first play was chaotic for me...Tomorrow will try single player.

The end of chapter 7 is very frustrating. Had to youtube it because I kept dying, not knowing what I was supposed to do. You really have to listen in this game, otherwise you'll be fighting waves and waves of enemies.

I'm on chapter 9 now and the difficulty has really picked up from the end of chapter 7 and onwards, partly because I wasn't totally sure on what I was supposed to do. I can see why reviewers didn't like the last few chapters. Hoping to finish it up later tonight, after hockey though. :)

I'm getting minced at the end of Chapter 7. It's a proper KZ slogathon of a level! I'm not sure why some reviewers were down about the
space sections
, KZ has always had them, the end of KZ1 was aboard a
space station.
Chasing down the rogue admiral alphonse chopchops or whatever his name was!

Finished the SP campaign. The last 3 chapters are quite hard... to the point where I didn't enjoy them as much as the rest of the game. Had a lot of frustrating deaths because I feel that they weren't very clear on what you had to do sometimes. Haven't died this many times in a game in a long time.

Overall, I think it's a pretty solid SP campaign. I think it was the perfect length (~8-10 hours) and there were a lot of good moments in there. Definitely worth playing through IMO. I'd give the SP campaign a 7.8 (would give the first 6.5 chapters a solid 8.5). With a solid MP component, I'd give the overall package an 8.

edit: Oh, and...
the first set of credits that gets interrupted by the side mission, scared the f*** out of me! I thought it was over and sat up with the audio still high when all of a sudden I hear that loud screech! Thought my PS4 was glitching out.
