KILLZONE Shadow Fall [PS4]

So tell us why you feel it's a major leap above KZ2...with video evidence to back it up.

Actually I think the onus is on you to explain why you don't see any visible leap in fidelity, resolution, or anything. With video to back it up...

Or admit... 'You should have gone to specsavers...'

I thought Shifty had said GIFs were frowned on here? Now I see like ten of them...

That MP does look good. Now if people would just admit say, the pop in laden jungle footage from e3 was underwhelming...:p

Even from my non-technical POV, I can see far better particle effects, lighting, textures and sharpness. I mean KZ2/3 looked great, but you have got to be blind to not see a significant leap. Watch the HQ version posted by DieH@rd and watch videos of KZ2/3 again.

It looks sharper because it's running at higher resolution obviously...that's not a huge leap. Looks just like a high res version of KZ2/3 on PS3. I have high quality videos of KZ2/3 from Gamersde saved on my HDD....do you?

I was expecting a huge leap like a real next gen leap. This is not a major next gen leap considering the supposedly much more powerful hardware. To the average person it could be mistaken for a KZ3.5 with more colorful settings for PS3. Some games which I'll not mention definitely look like a generational leap...this one doesn't sorry if you don't agree. It looks good no doubt but not what I'd expected.

The level design should be more open in KZSF. In MP, frame rate will be higher too.

It's just that KZ2 and KZ3 are not launch titles, so GG took their time.

But if there is a jungle level in KZSF, I suspect it will look (much) more convincing than the one in KZ3. KZ2 was mostly desert and concrete levels.

EDIT: in real use, I think a PS3 owner will also be able to tell it's next gene because of cross-game-chat, video recording and other peripheral services running in parallel.

On PS3, RemotePlay wasn't working well at all.

OK.... so this is definitely the best looking FPS so far I think...

But what I am most impressed with is the gameplay and level design they have shown so far.

Easy to see, colours are great, a little too much lens flare, but at least it's classy and not just ugly orange and blue all over the place.

The gun models don't take up half the screen which I love, distortion and lighting and particle effects are stunning to say the least, and the game looks silky smooth not just because it's 60 FPS, but the animation and all the visual cues of movement and shooting and aiming are incredibly lush... just.... it looks amazing.

I am honestly stunned at how good the MP looks. The SP looks great, but this is just on another level. It's truly a beautiful, gorgeous game...

Hats off to GG, they really pulled something special off with this one. That insane amount of time they said they had to polish the game (IIRC almost like a year or more since they said they finished the main game) seems to have really paid off in spades.

I think I made the right decision to preorder with KZSF over any other FPS game. What an easy decision it turns out to be in retrospect. This one really looks like a next gen launch game :)

Videos!? I have the game not just some videos! Do you?

Well at least you're up to KZ3.5 now, so you're getting there! I honestly didn't think anyone expected a huge leap this generation, law of diminishing returns and all. But everything about Shadowfall is way ahead of KZ2 and it's not a finished product yet. How it compares to other games is a moot issue.

I can't believe I'm coming to the defense of a Killzone game, but the visuals are considerably better than Killzone 3. It is a significant improvement. I absolutely hated Killzone 2. HATED IT. I wouldn't touch Killzone 3 with a ten foot pole because of it. This one actually looks nice. I'll see what I think if I play it, but so far there aren't any negatives, especially not the graphics. What they've shown is very nice to look at.

This definitely takes the cake for the best looking launch title for me, technically it's a new benchmark and the art also looked amazing. I'm just delighted that we're getting this level of graphics on launch, and I can't start to imagine how the final SP would look.

If you actually have the game you should be able to see it's not a generational leap which from your reply you seem to agree...:p

Your post seems to be from an art and personal preference perspective...because it is definitely not a generational leap. If you think it's a generational leap in graphics then you have very low expectations. I think you're blinded by rainbow colors and colored glowing particles and excessive use of lens flare...

I suggest you download and watch the KZ3 videos from Gamersyde then come back here and with a straight face say KZSF looks like a generational leap from KZ3. I don't think anyone with any credibility would agree that it is.

When we get to see them side by side, I think it will be more obvious.

Should they patch the game to support stereoscopic 3D, there will be a stark difference.

What's shown so far is just a regular level, not the wow moments. That's why you see me b*tching about the game looking bland. For KZ3 and 2, we already saw their high points.

If you can't discern a huge difference in sheer graphic fidelity between these two then you must be trolling harder than life itself.

Looks nice but I'm not seeing a major leap from previous KZs for PS3. If they hit 60fps upon release then we know why that is the case. If someone told me this game was running on PS3 at 720p 30fps I would believe them.

Really? I mean yes next gen hasn't been what I was expecting, but really can u make a statement like that? :???:

Just th lighting in that day map is above and beyond what was possible on the ps3. Look at the lighting on the gun model, on the environment. Look at the texture res of the character models. Look at the number polygons in environment. Then look at the bokeh DOF, the particles, the wind system affecting all particles(yes KZ2 had it too for some particles and I played with it a lot in the mech level), look at the damn HDR whihc every KZ game lacked till now, then look at the smoke from all explosions, then look at the damn reflections we never had before which are also blurred accotding to distance, the parallax mapping, better AO, physically based lighting and shading, then look at the draw distance, then look at the lighting again and the fact that all of this is running in tandem at 1080p !!!!!

u think that this can pass off as a ps3 game........:p

I think those two screenshots actually proves my point. Yes one is higher res as expected. Particles are the same one is rain the other snow. You have lense effects on both ingame. One is night one is day so you can't really compare light sources. Guess what game this is?

Those are all buzzwords that don't make a hell of a difference to the average gamer. You're trying to rationalize what you are seeing and not looking at the image at face value. Look at the picture above and tell me it's not as good looking without trying to inject useless buzzwords into the mix.

I can tell this is a kz3 shot from a mile away and a bullshot at that. Anyway it's a shame you cant appreciate the graphics upgrade in SF since virtually everyone else could at this point. Oh well I guess you can keep on gaming in KZ3 then since they almost look the "same" right?

Another post that proves my point perfectly...thanks.;)

Look in the mirror and ask yourself if they look a console generation apart...then look at your face...is it straight?
